Not 100% sure, I know that United hasn’t stored any aircraft at VCV so it wouldn’t be them. I think VCV crew is working on Southwest.....I don’t know why Swift Air flies in/out of VCV that often.

Crews dropping at storage fields usually just ground tranaport to nearest commercial airport.

Looks like Boeing will have hangers ready for the 737MAX10 and 777-9 when they fly down

"Last year, Victorville officials announced they had executed a lease agreement with Boeing for an additional 85,000 square feet of hangar space at SCLA, the Daily Press reported.

The hanger is used by Boeing in its expansion of flight testing operations for new aircraft, including the Boeing 737 Max and Boeing 777."

FlightAware has it too, and I saw a screenshot from adsb exchange on @ohwiss story on Instagram so I’m betting that it did happen.

As mentioned by lemand91 in the KLM 744 Phase Out Thread (post #1003), KLM 747-400M PH-BFS will ferry AMS-ORD-MHV on Monday May 25, 2020 as KL9879. Departure from AMS will be 8:55AM local. My calculations say that arrival at MHV will be around 2PM local (8:45 flight time AMS-ORD, 50 min at ORD for customs/fuel, then 4:30 flight time ORD-MHV).

Not SoCal but close, are there any airliners being stored at Kingman, AZ? I'm from the UK but I visited there many years ago and there was considerable boneyard activity going on.

Thank you! :) Yes, there are quite a few stored at Kingman (code is IGM). I visited 2 years ago on a road trip, and saw 2 Asia Pacific 727-200s, few DHL A300F, tons of smaller ex American Express regionals, a few DHL DC-8s, a few regionals from airlines across the globe (Aeromexico, Tianjin, Air Peace, Kingfisher, etc). Also an Azul Embraer, DC-4, and a MagniCharters 737. There’s probably a better list somewhere but that’s what I found scrolling thru some of my past photos. I don’t know how activity was back then, but now it is definitely limited, and not as dynamic as places like VCV. Hope this helps!

They've been doing Managua-LRD-CNO a few times within the last week or two, so it is almost certainly not for scrap. Now as to what cargo would be run between those airports, I have no clue.

Flightaware suggests they're actually headed for Tuscon, presumably to clear customs. Could go any number of places after that, we'll have to wait and see.

Given that it’s flying into TUS, my bet would be MZJ as the A346s didn’t stop, they flew to SBD direct. VCV also has customs there, and I doubt they’ll fly to MHV.

Guess you are right. All three flying straight, coming from GRU, via Central America without a defined destination. VCV therefore seems likely.

So are these lease returns, or are their no suitable storage facilities in Africa?

Atlas Air 747s usually visit MZJ, is this a confirmed retirement or a standard visit?

Wasn't this plane just taken out of storage recently?

Yes, according to planespotters it was taken out of storage on April 26, 2020.

They've been doing Managua-LRD-CNO a few times within the last week or two, so it is almost certainly not for scrap. Now as to what cargo would be run between those airports, I have no clue.

You were right, IFL Group 727-200F N215WE flew CNO-LRD yesterday (May 18). Very interesting route indeed.

Virgin Orbit has released their schedule for their launch demo. The launch window will on May 24, 2020 from 10AM - 2PM at MHV, with a back-up window on May 25, 2020 at the same time. This lines up quite nicely with the KLM 744 retirement that will happen on May 25.
