Interesting. UA's SIN-HKG was a fifth freedom for a very long time until the non-stops from SFO and LAX (later only SFO, but double daily) started with 789s. I suppose they are thinking demand on SFO-SIN won't return as quickly and they want to now spread capacity over HKG and SIN?

As far as I remember from whenever I flew this route on UA, they have used 77E and 738s to serve. Can't recall if they ever used 744s on this route. I know they used the 744 on SIN-NRT.

Understandable, considering the circumstances. Until there is a cure/vaccine, 14 day mandatory, monitored and enforced quarantines for International travelers will be the norm, not the exception.

I am hearing expect very little international travel for the next 2-5 years, at least. We are talking 1960’s traffic levels...
I hope this is wrong, but I am becoming more and more confident in that analysis.

I have flown a 744 on this route but that was a long time ago (around 1997/98). That was a few months before Kai Tak closed and my only ever visit to Kai Tak and my only ever trans-pacific trip on UA.
