Are these really “new”? They seem familiar.

I think a lot of them we have seen before but each has something in it that can sorta make them classify them as “new.”

I won't predict the pattern for summer 2020, but yes, people go to Florida in the summer. Check airport traffic statistics. The weather is 'wrong' but kids are out of school.

Can't say I'm surprised about this, I sort of expected F9 to pull something like this and I was right.

Has anyone tried to go book a flight on Frontier recently? It’s showing the schedule open until 9/12/2021.... they’ve never extended it that far!

It was a pretty smart move in my opinion. They did it to try and get cash quick and probably secure future bookings from cancelled trips this year.

I took a trip earlier this month to Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Out of all the legs the only light load was from GSP-MCO. All my other flights were around 90% full.

And there's definitely going to be a lot people traveling to Florida this summer. I did a dummy booking for 5/31 on UA's IAD-Florida routes and all of them appeared to be at least 70% full. MCO looked to be about 90% and RSW was probably about 95%.

They have been since late April

Hotel occupancy along the Gulf was in the 70% range earlier this month

Most theme parks are reopening in a few weeks except for Disney World in July, which will boost MCO up

Why unfortunately? It is good they are ramping up service and hopefully is proves fruitful with good pax numbers. Or is there something I am missing?

Agree completely. We want service to rebound so the industry doesn't die, remember? As long as people are being adults, washing hands and wearing masks when neccessary, good for them getting out of their houses.

Yes, of course it's great to see the rebound, especially today - 35 new routes from Wizz, 18 from Frontier, 11 from Southwest. Problem is, everyone still seems to be congregating and not all are wearing masks responsibly. Not to get off topic, but it's rather concerning.

All of the PHL additions aren’t much of a gamble given that they were all previously seasonal flights, now presumably becoming year round. Pretty sure that ISP-PBI/RSW were also seasonal routes. SRQ-CVG/CLE were also operated at some point. The only new routes I would consider kind of close to gambling are the BOS additions, since those are the only ones that might see heavy competition from the likes of DL/B6. Everything else fits right into their network and I wouldn’t see any reason that they would fail.

LAX-MCO would be quite a fun ride on them. DFW-MIA is very intriguing.

This is where being nimble should help them. Chase markets that are opening up.

Personal accountability, masks prevent the one wearing the mask spreading the disease, those who are vulnerable/at-risk are probably not traveling on vacation and partying on the beach. 2- no matter how you dice the data, Florida does not have concerning numbers. Per capita, it is even lower.

Florida is a smart move

As a regular commuter between Central Florida and New York

New York is like a hopeless hell at the moment.

Florida is like a Paradise of Normalcy.

People want normal. F9 sees this...Not sure why Jetblue is not being more aggressive

Are they still quarantining people from NY when they arrive in Florida?

The weather may be less desireable as people who have never been to Florida in the summer will quickly find out, but I bet these are travelers who did not go on their Spring Break trip and are pushing to go in the summer.

When I traveled there was nothing but a little sign that said to quarantine.

As of right now. Yes still active. As theme parks open i think they will end that relatively soon. Florida tourism places like key West local businesses are pushing for it to end, I bet Orlando and places are too.

Shockingly I had a wedding that was finally cancelled in Florida and UA flights form ewr-florida were more full than I would have expected. Kind of uncomfortably full , I was glad it got cancelled so I don't have to fly this summer. There is a certain amount of people itching to go anywhere this summer clearly. People who use to travel international or had trips are doing domestic. Still small compared to what we are used too and business travel is not there. Overall numbers of sold will be low compared to years past, but I think compared to the number of seats offered July we will see planes load factors much higher.

Nah. Big local markets, room for competition. Frontier does well on big markets from Miami, surprised it took this long to add Dallas.

The problem with LAXMCO is that nobody is going to Orlando right now to vacation, and the restrictions at WDW when it reopens are pretty arcane and will keep many away.

Frontier can see searches and booking data they must see alot more Florida demand. Gonna be toasty!

Consumer spending is way down people don't want to spend alot ,Florida can be an affordable getaway so it kind of makes sense. Hypothetical: Our planned trip to Barcelona is cancelled but want to get away this summer. Florida is fun, easy and affordable. They think they will be outside alot so safe. Reality is it's gonna be really hot and hard to sit on the beach or outside all day

I live in South Florida and many businesses are counting both on locales traveling within Florida and travelers from other U.S. states.

Quarantine is still in effect but keep in mind you only had to sign the papers if you were on a nonstop flight from NY/NJ/CT. If you didn't want to fill out the paperwork, there are still plenty of connections over Charlotte and Atlanta.
