According to the following article, Delta will resume partial alcohol in-flight services on Thursday after having stopped service since late March. Probably a sign of the revitalization of the industry.

They also are partnering with Mayo Clinic now. All of our local media had articles this morning, but a quick google search didn't find any national media coverage yet.

Just to clarify the OP's comments, since they could cause some confusion.

Beginning July 2, domestic first class and Comfort+ customers can enjoy complimentary beer and wine on all flights greater than 500 miles. The selection will include single-serve red and white wine, as well as Heineken, Miller Lite, SweetWater 420 and SweetWater IPA. Though the rollout begins on July 2, it’ll take the entire month for the beverages to appear on all eligible domestic flights.

As for non-alcoholic refreshments, Delta isn’t yet ready to restore complimentary soft drinks, tea or coffee service. Likewise, all domestic and international flights to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America will still feature pre-packaged snack service only. All other international flights feature a full selection of beverage offerings and hot, prepared food service.

or they are just matching Alaska's offerings. Beer has always been available, and added red wine & coke/diet coke 2 weeks ago.

Does Delta know if the Sweetwater 420 is marijuana infused? That doesn't sound very intelligent, whether it is or not. The support of marijuana by Delta would be egregious at best. And with this product they are doing just that.

It seems like adding Coke or juice cans to water offering shouldn't be a safety issue at all. Seems like more of a cost cutting issue than a safety issue?

No, 420 is simply a name. Delta has served SweetWater 420 onboard for years with minimal controversy - it's the most popular craft beer from the Atlanta area.

That's a bit misleading as well. I would also argue that the majority of customers either don't draw the connection and/or don't care.

Since terpenes lack psychoactive cannabinoids THC and CBD, they are U.S. governmentapproved and have the green light to be used in SweetWater’s 420 Strain series. Another key component in getting the strain-specific aroma in each beer was curating the right hops.

I'm wondering if they're using this as a sort of trial balloon. The benefits of only serving water is that it comes in resealable bottles. Even the wine bottles can be resealed (not the beer though, obviously). I would imagine this is possibly the first rollout to a limited reintroduction of beverages. I think they would have already done it with bottles, except that it may not be possible from a catering logistics perspective. It's certainly not a cost cutting measure — offering sodas is a miniscule expense. Delta's model has been the most cautious of all airlines, which fuels their approach to only booking to 60% LF. Their model is about boosting customer confidence.

I just look forward to the F meals returning. I can do without the assortment of High Fructose Corn Syrup. Airlines never offer anything palatable drink wise. My Contigo remains all i need. Honestly, everyone should get at least one Contigo and keep it full of water. We'd save hoards of plastics (oil and gas) from being drilled for then wasted in single use.

“Normal” 420 - what Delta has served for a while - is different from the Strain series. Other than the insinuation, the beer Delta serves has nothing to do with marijuana.

DAL is also removing the blocked seating at 1AB-CD on its 717,737,320 fleet in next few weeks. First class inventory goes to 50% capacity. Flight attendants on these aircraft will again sit side-by-side at the 1L jump seat wearing newly issued goggles along with face shields.
