Are there scheduled flights to Bagram Air Base

Wed Jul 15, 2020 5:55 am

Hi Guys, I just want to ask you a question does Bagram Air Base have scheduled passenger and cargo flights or is just ad-hoc?

I wondered the same since the crash of the National Airlines plane..not aware of course of how close Bagram is to Kabul....one would think that this airport could be a reliever but Kabul itself only has 19 airlines so if anything, Kabul needs more airline services themselves and not a reliever airport...

No scheduled flight to Bagram, no.

In terms of passenger/civilian aircraft, Nowadays you won’t get any civilian passenger aircraft into Bagram, nor Jalalabad. You’d likely fly to Minhad or another airbase around that area, and fly in from there on a C-17 or equivalent. If a passenger aircraft was required, it would go to Kabul or Kandahar, on the rare occasion they could go to Mazar-I-Sharif but it’s rare since it’s not the friendliest place on earth.

In terms of Cargo and logistics, military aircraft from various NATO countries still fly into Bagram, very rarely will a civilian cargo aircraft go there nowadays. We do still use civilian airliners for cargo, but they’ll go to Kabul and be transported by road or air from there.
