Current status Fokker F-28-1000 fleet / TU-TGW

Wed Aug 12, 2020 3:37 pm

Hi there,

Rik from the Time Air Historical Society. We are currently continuing to work on the purchase of C-FTAV stored in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

We have a number of questions we are hoping members might be able to answer:

-Does the F-28-1000 still have a type certificate?
-Does the RR Spey 555 engine still have a type certificate?
-Is there are outstanding AD's on the F-28-1000?

We are also trying to track down another former frame, that operated with the Canadian Regional fleet: TU-TGW. The last know flight was in December of 2018, and wondering if the aircraft is still in active status? We believe it is stored in Valencia, Spain

Any information is greatly appreciated! Rik Barry- Chairman TAHS

No specific answer for you. You may already have, but I would reach out to Canadian North or even KF. As I am sure you know, a lot of their ex-AME's and pilots (with surprising support from TC) were instrumental getting the ex-CP B732 airworthy and out of YXD years ago.

I should clarify that C-FTAV will be ground transported (it has no engines). Also, we will not be bringing the aircraft to flight-worthy status. It will be a static display. Research on the specific TC questions will help with long term plans (perhaps taxiable?). We are also trying to compile a final list of all military/commercial/private F-28-1000/1000C's still flying.

The response is on on the EASA web site, which provides current type certificate data sheets.

The Fokker 28-1000 TC is still valid. This TC also carries the Fokker 70 and 100, derivatives of the 28.

Same for the Rolls-Royce Spey, now a German engine, thanks to the Brexit...

One time I flew with family on an Air Niagara F-28 from YWG to Points North and on to a fishing lodge north of there, a gravel runway. A neat experience. This was in 1998 or so.ha

Armagna - thank you for confirming. We suspected as much.

LCDFlight - Air Niagara (Canada) 's C-FANA ended its career with Canadi>n Regional in approximately 2002.

OK, now we need to find out current status of TU-TGW. (Formerly C-FTAR) can anyone shed some light on it's current status?

Here are several F28 info websites that may assist.
You may be familiar with some of them already:

- http://www.dutch-aviation.nl/index5/Civ ... 20F28.html
- http://airnieuws.nl/fokker/025/index.html
- http://www.fokker-aircraft.info/

Several Air Fores still operate the Fokker F28 of different Mk's.

Hi factsonly. Thank you for those database websites. We are familiar, and have used them previously. Currently, and more specifically, we are interested in the current whereabouts and ownership of TU-TGW.

We are hoping to trace down the proper contact information for the owner, as we have a few questions about the former C-FTAR air frame.

Do you have the serial number? It's often easier to track down aircraft with that as opposed to trying to follow the tangled and sometimes inaccurate registration trail, especially those that have had many operators.
