What ever happened to the 17 a340 bought by Boeing?

Emirates and Cathay took most of them. The avgeek lore is that they were slow to divest, because Airbus had been refusing to support them... CX called their bluff, if indeed there was one, and the rest followed shortly after.

Just because Boeing managed to offer a good deal on 777s to SQ, they're willing to leave those planes hanging without support? A bit petty now, isn't it?

While again, I don't know of official corroboration for this (then ubiquitous) story.... it's really not all that far out of the park.

Somewhat similar to other manufacturers refusing to honor certain warranties, guarantees, etc for newish items re-sold through 3rd pty venders; which is what I presume to have happened. Or some variation of that.

I have trouble seeing Airbus being brazen enough to say that they'd offer NOTHING in terms of mtx, as that could potentially leave them open to liability should the aircraft go into operation in a non-embargoed region.

Not really true, it was an attempt by Boeing to remove SQ as a Airbus customer. The deal with them was conditional on SQ handing over all of the A310s and A340s.

You only get support if you have a contact with the OEM, same applies with Boeing.

While Boeing succeeded in eliminating the A340 at SQ, you have to ask whether EK and maybe CX may not have bought new 772ERs if the cheaper used A340s had not been available from Boeing.

Probably not CX.

CX already has A343 in the fleet.It also has a practice of expanding existing fleet type with 2nd hand aircraft when the specific type gets mature, so it squeezes a few more years from those aircraft at cheap price. It did that with L1011 from Eastern, 747-400 from SQ and lately 773 from EK.

You typically can just Google a tail number and get references to flightradar24, planespotters, flightaware, airfleets, etc.

I did a check on Google hints why I came and asked. All I got on Google was the Boeing bought them and that was it

A spokeswoman from Airbus did indeed conform that Airbus would not honor the warranty arrange with Singapore Airline on the A340 fleet after the sale to Boeing. The "support of the planes" that was written was not correct at that time.
She also stated that Boeing did the same thing when Airbus bought there planes from other airline in similar deals.

The A340 sale to Boeing lowered the value of the A340 and so did 9/11. All the planes was leased out after some time and Boeing did eventually sell the them to other leasing companies. After the deal A340-300 did not sell well and we all know how great the story of A340 evolved with the 500/600-series.

Boeing did attempt to make a same deal with China Airline and there A340 fleet but by then it was too late!
Latest purchase from Boeing was China Eastern A340-600 fleet!

Boeing can restart their airline business with A380/340/320/220

And they will build new terminals and hub in ORD, SEA, LAX and CHS

Air Mail Act of 1934 prevents Boeing from doing so.

Well? That's what Airbus said they would do. Those of us already in the industry KNEW they were speaking out of Anger. And? they Were. By the time the 777 came about? The A340 was already on it's way out. But Airbus was slow to go for ETOPS, As a matter of fact? Airbus was just plain slow on the Draw Period. They Build good airplanes but as far as new concepts? They're not going anywhere in a hurry. The A300 was around how long before Airbus finally adopted ETOPS? And they Had the advantage too! They had EVERY opportunity to upgrade the A300 when they saw the B767 and the B757 achieve ETOPS But? They didn't think the Train was leaving the Station And? they got Left! when they should have been he Lead Car OUT of of the Station!! It's not like they don't and didn't have the talent. I've seen enough Airbus Engineers here in the USA so that Airbus shouldn't be behind on Anything! Not commercial, Not Defense Nothing! Their only drawback to keep them from being a top US defense contractor? They won't establish a US Based defense structure to access DARPA.
