Surinam Airways chooses to replace their B777, with a more sensible A330. It will be an ex-Virgin Australia example, A330-200. Would be nice to see them fly with their own metal on the Amsterdam route.
Good luck to them.

The A330 deal seems to have gone sideways and they will not receive the ex virgin bird. This according to Luchtvaartnieuws but the full article is behind a paywall which I don't have. Perhaps one the other members had access to the article.

Here are 2 open articles from Surinam about the issue, both also in Dutch.

They mention both financial (no guaranty from the state) and compliance issues (law and regulations after a due diligence of the airline) as the reasons why the deal with the Israeli lessor Global Knafaim fell through.

According to a statement of the airline, reported by Dagblad Suriname, the deal fell through after the supervisory board of Global Knafaim backed-out stating that the aircraft was going to be used within the holding.

And that correspondents with other news reports in November that former VH-XFC (now registered 9H-GKL) was to go to Tus Airways of Cyprus, of which Knafaim owns 49,9%.

Dagblad Suriname is also saying that the airline is in talks with other lessors to find a suitable A330.
