I still recall this one by America West in 1987 mentioning the “big luxurious 757’ Enjoy.

The second one, with the African business men in the snow, is one of my absolute favourite ads. Beautifully done.

I do like the post-9/11 AA commercials:

Those commercials were so wonderful. Then American Airlines took all those proud employees, beat them to a bloody pulp, canned their pensions, and laid them off.

Anyone have access to the Qantas TVC they used when they introduced the 747 - music was The Beatles "Something" - another great tv ad. But have not been able to find it.

I hardly see any airline commercials on TV in my neck of the woods, but I've seen this ad a few times as a kid. Sure brings back memories.

Another version from the same campaign - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2gKHSGjpHE

And the one I liked the most, their "Heart of Asia" campaign featuring music by acclaimed Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za48aOR5uiM

They also had radio adverts all the time with a jingle to "you'll love the way we fly," but I can't seem to find a link to one. It sounded like it was made by a bad 80s synthesizer, and doesn't really impress the way Adiemus did, but nonetheless I remember it very well.

That's definitely not Frankfurt nor Boston as the video description implies. Frankfurt is not near the sea or surrounded by mountains and Boston has no snow covered peaks anywhere near it. That is Seattle's skyline and the mountains in the background are the peaks of the Olympic .Peninsula.

These are corny but I always found them funny and to this day I still remember the jingle :)

Sadly, there are so many airline commercials missing from YouTube. National Airlines had a really good jingle in the early 70s, that I cannot find. TWA had a really good commercial in the late 70s or early 80s that I remember clearly. It was a montage of short clips showing all their planes in their fleet with close ups of landings, including lots of 707s in the twin stripe colors. On one of the clips, a 707 is "bobbing" its nose up and down, just before touch down. I have looked everywhere for this video, but no luck.

A couple of commercials from the Ansett 'Absolutely' campaign in 2001, a last-ditch effort after the 767 fleet was grounded in Easter 2001. Featured various Aussie celebs of the time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwE5SOAwjIc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwSElUc7obY

And a couple of QF domestic ads from the mid 2000's. With Virgin the main competition, and most businesses travellers now relegated to Economy for domestic flights, the main point of difference was now free booze on flights after 4PM, complementary meals, and the ease of rebooking flights....

BA did of course have their own 'poster girl' in the form of real life stewardess Roz Hanby, who appeared in many of their tv commercials in the 1970's and 80's. As a small boy I often aspired to meet her on board. Sadly she had left the business by the time I took my first ever BA flight !

Here in Brazil, we had some fantastic ads in the past, specially from Varig, VASP and Transbrasil.
These are in Portuguese, but they are my absolute favorite ones:

Varig 60 years (1987)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz1u1KUSsOU

VASP mid 80s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aswaRTO3z4

VASP early 90s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr53YdBytIk

From airlines outside Brazil, my absolute favorite is the beautiful American Airlines jingle "Doing what we do best!".
That Delta Air Lines ad featuring the song "Adiemus" is also incredible.

I also like the Malév ads featuring their theme song, composed by Gabor Presser.
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

I think I know who you are talking about. The one who was featured in all “We’ll take good care of you” ads. Many years ago I read in British Airways News that she got married to a radio producer and had to quit BA. “She will take good care of him” the newspaper commented. Sad.

Here's a bunch of United ads from 1984, I suppose just before they transitioned to Rhapsody in Blue
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Dpy0lSWYFg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBIU8ytEl74

And one from way earlier, in the early 1970s. I like it, even though I'm not even American to understand the sentiment!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDHBbUhh9OM

This one, I really like, a modern version of Rhapsody in Blue
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_hRjDi ... ftisy0C_Jj

TWA got Peter Sellers to sell them in ads, playing:
1) The Brit with a stiff upper lip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RnhwK8Id3Y
2) The playboy Italian (also featuring Teri Garr) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLy2DkJ8xn8

I didn't realise that there were multiple versions of that ad, as the only version I've ever seen is one:

https://youtu.be/jMXQXmeqepo

Clearly I don't know my late 90s/early 00s Australian celebs well enough as I would never have picked that they were "celebrity" endorsements! I know the second one you posted features Ita Buttrose, but who are the men in the first one you linked and the one I added? (I only recognise Ita because she is now head of the ABC, otherwise I would have no clue who she was either!)

The ones who I can remember;

Rex Hunt - Aussie Rules footballer, turned commentator. Better known outside of Victoria for a TV fishing show he did in the 90's & 2000's. Mad as a hat!
Lee Kernaghan - Aussie Country singer
Tania Zaetta - Various TV shows in the 90's onwards
Dawn Fraser - Olympic gold medallist in the 50's & 60's
Bernard King - Best known as a judge in 'Pot Luck' - check this out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSPtnWl00g0
Bert Newton - Aussie TV royalty.
Nathan Buckey - Back when he played for Collingwood, pre-coaching days.
Vanessa Amarosi - The singer of the featured song
The then-CEO (Toomey?) also featured

From memory, the 'endorsements' may have been done for free or for equity rates, as it was common knowledge that Ansett were on their last legs - this was just before they entered Administration. The airline did have a lot of goodwill, especially in Melbourne.

Also a very old topic discussing the ads

She apparently quit BA after the campaign ended in 1982 to pursue a television career with TVS, the broadcaster who occupied the ITV franchise position for the south of England before ITV became a uni-body broadcaster in the UK (STV and Ulster Television excepted). But yes BA had a no marriage policy for their hostesses, hard to believe nowadays.

Further info here, she's nearly 70 now apparently.

There are some great adverts posted here, some of which I remember. I used to really like the early 90's Emirates advert that shows an A300-600 landing in Dubai, I can't find it anywhere unfortunately. If anyone could find it and post it, I'd be grateful.

Surfing YouTube I found this ad from BA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrjqVCcYA_o

Question - did they really just convert the middle seat to make two wide seats in "Super Club"?

Or this one......

..... which pissed off AC so badly, they started a (very public) lawsuit and gave a lot of free publicity. It also started the decade long battle between the two airlines.

Internally though, any AC passenger flying on CP was referred to as a “wing walker”. It is even mentioned in the ad you quoted.

Here in Brazil, we had some fantastic ads in the past, specially from Varig, VASP and Transbrasil.
These are in Portuguese, but they are my absolute favorite ones:

Varig 60 years (1987)

VASP mid 80s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aswaRTO3z4

VASP early 90s

From airlines outside Brazil, my absolute favorite is the beautiful American Airlines jingle "Doing what we do best!".
That Delta Air Lines ad featuring the song "Adiemus" is also incredible.

I also like the Malév ads featuring their theme song, composed by Gabor Presser.

You mean this one, right?

This one is great, with a piano version of their song.

I have been looking for the video of a North Central ad where there is a DC 9 at dusk with the sun behind it with the lights and beacons going inflight, a really nicely filmed ad. Does any one have it to post?
