Setting It Strait: Paintschemes!

Mon Sep 06, 1999 1:27 pm

Let me just tell you who needs a new scheme:
NWA does NOT need a new scheme. These are airlines listed from 1-7,

1. SPIRIT (that powder blue and bright red are hideous)
2. Southwest (looks like a flying turd)
3. AMERICAN (I really dont think anything could help because it is so classic but AA needs a new image)
4. Delta (GIVE UP THE CHEATLINE, they have had that stupid blue and red cheatline forever)
5. KLM (I think KLM would look really good in a white scheme)
6. IBERIA (OK, you have to admit that red/orange and light yellow, up against dull white looks terrible, it wreaks of SWA.
7. VARIG (they need to switch back to their old scheme, It has true South American flair)

A few other notes: THANK GOD TWA AND UAL CHANGED THEIR UGLY SCHEMES!, I LOVE TransBrasil's revised scheme. CONGRATULATIONS USAirways and MetroJet their schemes are so BEAUTIFUL, i think it was wrong for them to order Airbuses, I would of loved to see them in a 737NG. I think their A330's are gonna look bad though. FINALLY, I think Frontier is a winner, they can do so many things with their wilderness corporate identity, very SMART move for them.

I was just wondering if you were referring to delta's old or new colorscheme?! If you havent seen our new color scheme, it still has the cheatline but it is changed.

You state that Southwest looks like a flying turd. My advice to you is...if you have turds that are orandge, red, and gold...you had better get on down to the proctologist as soon as you can.

Form follows function. That's an old adage. With pre-tax operating margins of roughly 13%...Southwest probably ought to just stay the way they are.

They may not be pretty but you always know which planes belong to Southwest.

Northwest?

Tue Sep 07, 1999 6:56 pm

Hi

I remember seeing a few years ago, some experimental colour schemes for Northwest.

They looked real good.

What ever happened to them?

In my opinion, ALITALIA would do well with a new - or slightly revised paintscheme, too. Their livery's been unchanged for almost 30 years now.

Hi.

I think KLM livery looks real nice, it is better then al the white bodies you see at many, many airlines.
THERE IS TO MUCH WHITE I THINK.

That's why I love the liveries of KLM, NWA, UAL, SAS.

DLH, SWR, AUA, ACA, TWA etc, etc.....they need to change there livery, more colour-full schemes.

What annoys me is airlines that have all white planes with a logo on the tail. Like Lufthansa...totally white plane, says "Lufthansa" in very plain letters, has a simple logo on the tail. United's & Aloha's schemes are the best. United's is super professional, and Aloha's is perfect for flying around the crown jewels of the pacific.

The Airline that most needs a make-over ( other than AA ) is LTU. The planes are completely red with a small white line, and white lettering. They need a severe up-dating.

Hi

No need for Alitalia to change/alter their scheme.

One of the best and most recognised in the world.

I know I will get in trouble for saying this but

AA's colors make their planes look cheap and flimsy.

You can see all the dents and pits and nothing is as freaky as looking at parts of a plane that are different colors than the rest of it.

I LOVE AA and will always support them.

But when thier planes get old they REALLY look it.

I dont like the flat grey tales on the shiny body. It looks like primer!!

I wish they would change it

I hope thier best days arent over

My first flight was on them, so theyll always be my favorite in a way.

Northwest has probably the most distinctive scheme--
That incredibly simple yet complex 'compass/north-west' logo on the red tail particularly on their immaculate DC-10/30's and '40's--hard to believe they are pushing age 30--makes them so very recognizable.

I still like the old Northwest Orient logo, which was great, but the new one is truly inspired.
