EgyptAir receive 12th (and last) A220

Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:01 pm

The last of EgyptAir’s original firm order for 12 A220-300s is currently on its delivery flights from TLS to CAI:

(strange routing flying north from TLS to the UK coast and then turning towards Cairo).

SU-GFI’s delivery is exactly a year after the airline received the first of its 12 A220s in September 2019.

Given the ongoing impact of the pandemic, over half of the brand new fleet is currently stored at CAI.

First, kudos to the airline for accepting the aircraft per contract. This is not a good environment.

I look at the quantity stored and I stop concerning myself with options for the A220.

Funny to see it had to fly through British airspace first to continue its journey to Egypt. I understood from the A220 thread that this must be done because the airplane is leased from a British firm which requires it to fly over British airspace before heading to the customer.

I think it's smart to take them right away. the a220 will be the right size aircraft to use on many routes post Covid 19.

A220 +A320+ the up coming a321 should be great.

i sense the 2 787 orders might not be kept unless Aer cap can make a nice deal that includes an early return on the 777s that are too much for what they do with them.

These are out since 01-March, they are replaced by 2x A220-300, SU-GFA and SU-GFD, the two complete white A220-300 of Egypt Air...sorry Air Sinai.
