Can anyone confirm what Business Class seat is fitted on the TK A350? Is it still the same as the one on the 787 which received less than stellar reviews?

Per Eurocontrol, Turkish Airlines was the busiest airline yesterday, replacing Ryanair who is down 23% in flight activity last two-weeks as Covid cases climb across Europe.

Hi from Istanbul!

This is my 5th visit to Istanbul, and I absolutely love the city and culture. Currently sitting on a rooftop hookah lounge next to Beyazit station and enjoying the nice evening.

The flight was about 40% full. Unfortunately service was nonexistent, with 2 cold boxes with sandwiches offered for dinner and breakfast. No beverage service, only water available in the galley. Sure would be nice with the regular full service, but the drawn down service is not a dealbreaker for me. More importantly we arrived safe and sound and on time.

Sounds like changes are coming to future Airbus deliveries at TK.

Per regulatory announcement;

In agreement with Airbus, the company rescheduled certain deliveries and adapted the overall outstanding orders to their operational and financial capabilities to ensure a solid basis for the future of the airline. This agreement also takes into account the strong industrial partnership that exists between Airbus and Turkey which is essential in these difficult times of our industry.

EK and TK are not operating between Turkey and the UAE, what about other airlines like Pegasus?

i just came from Dubai on Thursday to saudi, and I was planning to search for any flights from DXB to IST, however all the flights are connection flights thru Egypt, Amman or Kuwait, no any TK or EK flights at the moment, and I don't know until when this will be..

by the way, I was on the metro near DXB and I saw TK airplane there, but may it's cargo or something ..

anyone know when the TK will start flights to RUH or JED??

TK website says, 7 x W both destinations by NOV1.
Other news, Chinese FA decided to stop flights by TK, LOT and Saudia, into China due to recent COVID situation. That affects total of 9 x W flights to 4 Chinese destinations by TK.

Has anyone recently traveled through IST to the USA with a long layover ... what are the quarantine requirements for non-Turkish nationals? Can you get out of the airport and head to the city?

I am planning to buy BOS-IST-DAC tickets that have about 11-12 layovers in IST on both ways in late Dec / early Jan ... am wondering if I'll need to stay at the airport or if I can go to the city. How much time does it take from the new airport to the city? Are normal transportation options still open? How is the city hotels/restaurants coping with the lockdowns?

Any recent experience would be very helpful ... thanks in advance!

I Love this advertisement.. Turkey is open and even if you want to go to the city or have transit in IST you don't require any PCR test, unlike many other airports like Cairo or Amman, you need PCR test even if you are coming for transit in the airport and not going out.

That time of the year it could be cold and dreary in Istanbul. Clearing customs and then taking a bus to the city could take 2 hours each way.
If it was me, I would check into YOTEL (airside, starting around 140 euros) and take a shower and sleep both ways before flying long legs, but I've seen Istanbul many many many times :)

I guess yesterday was the first day TK sent 2 pax flights to JFK.
I see that TK3, 77W returning to IST as of now, while TK1, 77W is on its way to JFK.

True - but I'll feel really bad if I didn't hop into the city at least during one of the legs - even if just for the Koftes! :D
Love the city, the history, the culture, the food, the people ... visited 4 times so far ... but it has been a while since.

Anyone knows which hotel(s) is/are being used by TK recently for the free overnight stay in Istanbul when your connection is longer than 12 hours? Where are they located?

For work reasons, I flew Vienna to Sabina Gokcen airport on Anadolujet today. Less than 2 hours flight yet the same offering of TK mainline on short-haul flights nowadays (water, orange juice, a disgusting super dry sandwich & a piece of cake) - without IFE of course. Thanks to my Elite status, I could even use the Austrian Business Lounge located at F gates in Vienna. I am wondering where is the incentive for a passenger to fly TK mainline (which is more expensive than Anadolujet) nowadays, when flying P2P to Istanbul? I do not get it. Pleasant flight I have to say. Strict hygiene measures in place & respected. Cheerful crew: asked them why no drinks other than water / hot drinks are being offered these days on TK / Anadolujet flights and they could not hide their laughs. Says it all.

Thanks for the short Trip Report. How is the fare compared to Pegasus? If you don't mind saying, how many miles did you get and what was the fare? Thanks.

Pegasus was more expensive. Vienna to Istanbul on Anadolujet & Istanbul to Vienna with TK mainline: 160 Euro roundtrip. Not sure how many miles I will get but I will report back.
