Sunwing to resume flights in November

Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:41 am

It'll be out of YUL and YYZ with 3 and 4 sun destinations respectively. I guess this long winter will feel even longer this year. How many will be able to get a sun break?

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The quarantine rules may not be a huge factor for snowbirds but for families etc it will be an issue.

I noticed earlier this summer that Sunwing were doing a few ad-hoc agriculture worker flights from Guatemala/Mexico to Canada. I suppose the flow will be reversed soon when the various harvests are completed in Canada.

Western Canada will be left with just Air Canada, WestJet and Swoop this winter. It certainly will be a long cold winter.

For people who spend every winter in those sun destinations, the 14-day quarantine would not be an issue, since they are going for 6 months anyway. However, they would certainly consider the quality and availability of health and medical services at the destination, in case they get the virus down there. If they don't feel comfortable and confident, they won't go.

Destinations with better infrastructure, such as Barbados and Costa Rica, etc. will recover better and sooner for this winter traffic.

Their schedule is cute - at this point WG should just shut down until Winter 2021-2022.

Probably shouldn't admit on Anet that I was wandering what a/c WG uses to get to West Africa..... (the other Liberia!)
