2x AN-124 @SFO

Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:47 pm

There are 2 an124s parked at sfo.
It is rare to have 2 of them at same time at sfo.
Any idea on what mission they are there for.

Charters from Turin Italy on behalf of Chapman Freeborn

Unrelated earlier in September during the fires had another AN124 charter at SFO bringing in FEMA equipment from New Jersey.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

That's a lot of material...

Wonder if Austin will see them when the factory opens up down there.

One has been there for at least 3 weeks. The other got there about a week ago I think. Why are they sitting for so long?

SFO has been getting them for quite a while now, but they have been increasing lately.

They may be waiting for their next charter, and it may be cheaper to put the crew up for a bit rather than fly home then off to another charter.

The AN 225 sat in Indianapolis for about 6 weeks years ago, (Early 2000’s) after moving equipment for Eli Lilly. The ATA mechanics crawled all over it on time off just to get it their log books. You wouldn’t believe how rough it was in those days, up close.
