I'm surprised at all the Florida/Caribbean cuts by B6. I thought those destinations were points of relative strength in an otherwise weak environment. JFK-KIN is surprising as it has been implied that VFR traffic has been strong. By comparison, DL has maintained its daily ATL-KIN and AA is back up to 3x daily on its MIA-KIN so maybe there is demand there but not from NYC (which seems weird as it's the largest VFR market). The start date for JFK-GEO also seems to keep getting pushed further and further back. I'm starting to wonder if this will start at all. BW has restarted its JFK-GEO ops as of yesterday and AA is set to resume in December. In a weakened market, maybe it's just not worth trying.

There are a lot of oddities with the Caribbean. Is it possible that people are buying tickets, but then close in they realize that there is some restriction in place and they cancel? I met somebody who was going to MBJ and got to the airport in ATL before being told they needed a negative COVID test within 48 hours to enter. They rebooked for a vacation to CUN on a flight one hour later. Those sorts of last second changes of an entire trip never used to happen before...except for non-revs.
I was surprised how many stations B6 has closed for DEC.usairways85 wrote:It looks like the AA PHL "adds" in November were partly pulled back down to September/October levels. There were also some curious additions in December that I anticipate to come back down.
I think a lot of airlines are just trolling for bookings. They are selling schedules for 60 days out that they don't have enough planes or crew to even fly any more. The DOT is going to crack down on this soon I suspect. Beyond that, airlines are adding flights when they see a hint of customer interest, grabbing bookings, and then cancelling down to the original or less capacity 2 weeks out. It's mega-bait-and-switch.

When AS fully joins OneWorld, I wonder what the QR redemption will be like.

Possibilities are that the equipment code filed gets filtered for validity before it makes it to me or the flight is filed as a duplicate meaning that Envoy is the primary marketer (which we know isn't really the case). One of those things appear to be happening. I'm assuming it is just Envoy E145s impacted.

Many are correct like the twelve Eagle markets that were discontinued thru Nov 3 have now been cut thru Dec 1. (DFW-DRT/LCH/SPI, ORD-DBQ/AZO, CLT-FLO/PGV/HTS/HVN/IPT, and PHL-SWF all showing 0 for NOV) with the exception of DFW-SWO which will continue. All the other markets show a return on Dec. 2 in AA.com but don't hold your breath, looks like AA does want to keep them.
I did check DFW-ELP which shows NOV 4>5[7], AA.com shows this market with 6 flights Mon-Thur and 7 on Fr/Sa/Su. It showed the same last week, I dont see any changes made. Still trying to solve the mystery. I'm wondering if some of the other changes the report shows for this week are actually corrections from what was previously shown?

Step away from the Fox News portrayal of Seattle. The tourism market will suffer due to the implosion of the cruise industry but the economy is not slowing down, tech especially.
Of your list Norwegian and Condor will be lucky to be flying anywhere next year, CX and SQ had shaky business cases for SEA even before COVID. IAG would be smart to pull EI out in favor of maximizing BA’s one world connection to AS.

I'm not sure on the Bahamas and T&C but for Jamaica, entry requirements have been fairly consistent since its reopening in June. A negative test within the last ten days: https://www.visitjamaica.com/travelauthorization/
They also perform location monitoring of arrivals while on island. This also hasn't changed since June. Jamaica has actually seen a marked increase overall of airlift into both KIN and MBJ over the last few months which makes the cuts noted above all the more surprising.
Re STT, which you asked about, I don't know of any additional restrictions put in place. In fact, I believe the opposite is happening with restaurants now allowed to resume indoor dining up to 50% and other restrictions being rolled back.
panamair wrote:Why are people saying EK is pulling out of SEA without properly reading the schedule..it says 0.1 in March which indicates they have only pulled it for the winter season. Both SEA-DXB and EWR-ATH-DXB are on sale for the S21 season starting March 28, 2021. Of course that can still change later if borders remain closed etc but for now, they have been dropped for the winter season only.

Sadly, this is spot on. SEA seemed to have some really strong momentum going into 2020 - but with COVID + riots it's become one of the least desirable places in the US (along with Portland). It's going to take years for SEA to rebound if it even does.

There's been a lot of talk about AA being inaccurate. I spot checked a few.
AA ORD-PIT NOV 0.9>1.2[5]
This is correct. People are picking random days and saying there are two flights, but it averages 1.2 over the month because there are whole days with no flights at all around the Holiday.
AA ORD-RIC NOV 0.4>0.7[4]
This is correct. There's 1 flight on most days, but zero around the holidays.
AA CLE-ORD NOV 1.0>1.6[5]
There are whole days with zero, but it appears that this E145 flight, for example, does not make it through to me.

AA 3408 ER4-Embraer ERJ-145
Operated by Envoy Air As American Eagle
Possibilities are that the equipment code filed gets filtered for validity before it makes it to me or the flight is filed as a duplicate meaning that Envoy is the primary marketer (which we know isn't really the case). One of those things appear to be happening. I'm assuming it is just Envoy E145s impacted.

Seattle has turned into such a crap-hole that no one in their right mind would want to come back or come visit.

We are seeing now how over saturated Seattle really was just like Boston. Those two markets had been punching over their weight for a while now and those markets are now being rightsized more to the demand. Airlines can no longer give away seats just to say hey we are serving the latest cool market. I actually think Condor will be back

In case anyone was confused like me, this is IBC Airways, a cargo airline based out of FLL. Not sure why they're showing up here. I thought this was only passenger flights? Are they trying to launch those? I'm curious if anyone knows.
IBC got scheduled authority a few years ago and tried to fly to the Bahamas and compete with Silver (which, honestly, shouldn't take much). They even bought a building on the N side of FLL off of SW 34th street as a passenger terminal (no parking for passengers). It didn't work out and they went back to squarely charter only for passenger service.

Lol right? I live in Seattle, this dramatic portrayal as a "crap-hole" with "riots" is wholly inaccurate.
tphuang wrote:It's all media sensationalism. Unless the tech companies in Seattle all make work from home a permanent thing, I don't see why people that work in these companies will permanently leave the area. And if they don't leave, then why would the international airlines not come back to Seattle? The air demand in PNW has certainly comeback a lot faster than Northeast. I don't think there is any real evidence why demand would not come back in 3 to 5 years.

We keep seeing shrinkage and "rightsizing" from B6 at ATL. Will be interesting to see whether they continue with that station into next year or decide to close it outright. Many people have not been happy with B6's on-time performance in ATL, and they have sworn not to fly them again. B6 really needed to get a foothold in the market, but I don't see that happening now.

Seattle is America's most beautiful major city, especially in the Summer. And the crap going on here is just a couple blocks.
