Man cooks steak in LAV

Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:04 pm

Tik Tok prankster Marcus Monroe filmed himself cooking steak in a Delta lavatory. I hope he gets banned by all airlines and gets slap with a hefty fine.

you will see Marcus in the plane lavatory, putting a Sterno (canned heat that uses ethanol gel) in the toilet. He lights it with a long-reach lighter, lays down an aluminum grilling sheet across the seat, plops down a raw steak,

He might go to jail (federal offense) for this if this is some real intentional open inflight fire on a passenger flight and not some sort of movie set up filmed and edited on some grounded airplane in a boneyard like Mojave or similar.
I doubt it is real. Who would cook his steak in that corner anyway?

Looked like a narrow boy, but only had two seats each side of the aisle.

At the end of the first article, all the way down it states there has been an update that this was indeed a fake video.
Still a really stupid video though, especially using Delta’s name.

Those food warming catering flames are considered Hazmat under the TSA and DOT regulations. They shouldn't have made it through the checkpoint.
I'm going to guess this is a Fake video made on a airplane while on the ground.
If it's real I'm sure someone is investigating and stiff penalties will be issued.
Hey welcome to the new world let's do something illegal and film ourselves doing it.

They ought to ban him anyway. He hasn't broken any laws, but he can certainly be put on the uninvited to fly list based on his actions.

Even if it’s fake, if it inspires someone to try it for real, it could lead to a serious incident.

Nobody was hurt.... nobody was put at risk... nobody ended up in trouble... the person who did it revealed how he performed the illusion...

When I saw a magician on TV perform the 'cut a lady in half' trick years ago, I somehow realised that taking the saw from my dad's box of tools and cutting my little sister in half would be a bad idea - even though I was 7 at the time

Sure, if this wasn't patently stupid.

Using a real corporation's name is going to bring him a particular bout of discomfort-- that'll be the only funny thing in all of this.

Now I understand why they attach those warning labels on electrical appliances - "Do not use this device in a bathtub, shower or water-filled reservoir" :white:

That explains why no smoke alarms went off in the lav. Sizzling meat would emit enough smoke to set it off. Still a very stupid stunt to pull for a tik tok in the age of everyone doing "challenges" on social media. Could've led to a very serious real-world incident.

Looks like CRJ-900 based on the fwd lav and the style of the F bins.

Eeew...wouldn't one want to wash one's hands after reaching into the toilet to remove the "sterno"?

If real, it would be the airline's fault. I never saw in the safety video "Please refrain from cooking in the toilet. " :stirthepot:

Aw, you were doing so well until you added that last one.
So when exactly did he reveal how he did it? Sometime after his video was pulled, and with police sirens getting louder & louder?
Yeah, really impressive. :shakehead:

Magicians' acts come with the clear understanding that it is a trick. Is this Tik Tok guy known for performing "tricks" that aren't for real, or for doing crazy things in crazy places?
The comparison breaks down right there.

Speaking of humor; the thread title puzzled me, and I got as far as looking up LAV to see where this event happened. Apparently it's Lalomalava, Western Samoa.

The nearest airport only has a short runway and is served by Samoa Airways Twin Hotter. :hot: :hot:

(yes, all of that is actually true - well nearly all of it)

Nothing to see here; move along please.

Sounds like an episode of Black Mirror. This is why social media and so called "influencers" are the worst.
