Just a couple of housekeeping matters

Could we please report the post if you want the thread locked for a new edition as we do not read every thread and its the quickest way to bring it to our attention

Secondly for all users that participate in this thread just a friendly reminder if you are posting factual and newsworthy information links to sourced articles must be provided

Qatar and its GCC neighbors are to settle their disputes and remove the air and sea blockades from Monday Nigh (Jan 4th). I wonder how long until Qatar airways launches flights to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This can't be good news for Emirates or Etihad...

What Saudi Arabia says, UAE does, so my guess is that it wouldn't be too long afterwards that UAE would open and allow the same - in any case, EK would be crying if they couldn't get in on any of the Fifa World Cup action. If they stay closed, then it's handing thousands, and thousands, of fans/passengers to QR on a silver platter.

The UAE will open its borders to Qatar. It might be announced today, 5/1/2021, after the end of the GCC summit.

Do not forget that Dubai is hosting the Dubai Expo 2020 and that Qatar is participating.

Two questions: is that large lake/pond in front of BAH completed, too? Saw it in renderings and looks great.

2. Any news on SV's new uniforms? They debuted in Feb2020 and were to implemented systemwide by mid2021.

Starting from 22.02 FZ will boost BEG flights to daily due to rapidly growing demand. They are expected to further boost flights before summer, rumors are that it will be 10 weekly.

https://www.exyuaviation.com/2021/01/fl ... grade.html

According to Air Serbia's website, they will be resuming Cairo flights this summer. Initially the destination was suspended but seems like they brought it back.

The lake infront of the terminal was always there ! The it’s
Not new

As for the uniform it makes sense to have delayed it as the crew are masked up. Not a good time to announce it although I think masks won’t disappear in 2021... who knows

Cheers

flydubai to restart Catania and Naples in May and adds Malta and Salzburg in May too.
https://simpleflying.com/flydubai-europe-2021/

Malta will be linked with Catania and rotations will reverse depending on the day of the week. MON&FRI will see DXB-MLA-CTA-DXB
and WED&SUN will see DXB-CTA-MLA-DXB

Malta used to be linked with Larnaca on Emirates. Emirates will solely focus on DXB-Larnaca.

DXB-Tel Aviv flight have been temporarily halted from JAN 26 for 1 week due to new Covid restirctions in Israel.
https://www.zawya.com/mena/en/business/ ... 125110635/

Tblisi will restart twice a week from JAN 28th for flydubai and once a week from JAN 30th for Air Arabia.
https://agenda.ge/en/news/2021/196

And today JAN 26 marks the restart of DXB-DOH by flydubai with a twice daily service.

The party's over.
Flights banned from UAE to UK ... did Dubai ruin it for Etihad? 50,083 cases in 14 days. That'll do it.

I don't get it, why not allow locals who were vaccinated to travel between the two coutries. The UK has so far vaccinated almost 12% of the population while the UAE is close to 30%. Seems like an overreaction to introduce a complete ban.

It’s seems that many people are returning from the UAE and testing positive with Covid. There is even talk about irregularities with UAE testing. Denmark for one banned all flights to/from UAE pending investigating All those negative tests that turn out positive once Passengers reach their destinations.
Countries that decided to open up their economies completely are suffering the most infections. UAE is one of those countries.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Serbia. FZ is doing exceptionally well here and are even boosting BEG to daily in February. There wasn't a sharp rise in covid cases here, I mean numbers have been more or less stable.

I assume other countries will follow. So far the following countries have an explicit flight ban from Dubai / UAE:

- Australia
- UK / Ireland
- Denmark

If the EU as a whole and also the US put something similar in place, Emirates will certain feel the pain. Hope these bans don't last too long.

France seems to be banning travel between France and non EU countries. And requiring travels from within the EU to have a PCR negative result before entering France.. Measure effective Sunday 31st Jan,

Denmark has banned flights from the UAE not for the numbers but because they dont trust the PCR testing

Australia has not banned flights from UAE

I can see that there are plenty of non-stops between Saudi and Lebanon so I imagine it's a proper 5th freedom (if it exists)

I don't think that no one has mentioned this yet but:
Gulf Air Reveals Singapore As New Destination In Q2 2021
https://www.gulfair.com/media-centre/pr ... in-q2-2021
"Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announces the addition of Singapore to its growing network with 1 weekly flight starting April 2021. The airline continues to explore opportunities to expand its network and reach to different regions of the world. Known for its premium leisure and business appeal, Singapore will serve as another boutique destination of the only boutique airline in the Middle East. Gulf Air’s newest destination will further enhance the connectivity of the airline’s destinations in Europe and GCC, with a convenient departure and arrival timing to/from Singapore."

https://www.routesonline.com/news/29/br ... ore-route/
"Gulf Air first began operating flights to SIN during the 1990s but the island city-state was axed from its network in June 2007 as part of a restructuring program that also saw service to the likes of Dublin (DUB), Hong Kong (HKG) and Sydney (SYD) suspended."

This flight will be operating on Saturdays, with the return on Sunday. I looked at their booking schedule and it goes like this:
GF165 BAH23:50 -- 12:40+1SIN 6
GF166 SIN21:20 --00:15+1BAH 7

20-ish years back the routing used to be BAH-SIN-SYD-MEL-SIN-BAH ... was good for a bargain-basement fare from MEL in to Asia.

Effective today, Emirates have upgraded a second daily service on the DXB-CAI route from a B77W to an A380 due to “consistently high demand”. The morning rotation EK927/928 joins the afternoon EK923/924 as an A380 service. The evening rotation EK925/926 remains on the B77W.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi (5W) are launching AUH-ALA and AUH-NQZ in May - in the middle of the Eid break. A few days earlier could be very beneficial!

Interestingly, these used to both be Etihad (EY) routes, and way back when Air Arabia Abu Dhabi (3L) was announced, ALA was one of the destinations mentioned (which EY had dropped years back, and at the time was still operating to NQZ).

Does anyone know if the North Terminal of JED has been closed (e.g., are non SV/Skyteam airlines now using the new terminal)?
