So a lot of shifting. Not sure how many of these will actually be getting prepped or just being rotated around.

Any sign of P8 169564 yet? It's a complete mystery what has become of that one. Should have flown mid last year but no sightings by anyone. I wonder if it's suffered some damage. They're already way past it and latest one to fly was 169569 (the one you saw).

Any sighting of G-TUMK? Wondering what name it's wearing. Came back from storage the other day and parked in B14 at BFI, opposite the touch-up tents. Should be able to read it off from the road outside as there's a gap between the 2 tents, or even through the tent itself if the back is open :) .

All the UA backlog delivered now. I wonder if the -10 will fly before their first -8? Their first -8 is in the low 8000s.

Have we had any confirmation on United Max 8’s? I’ve seen a lot of speculation but nothing firm/confirmed.

And if that’s the one that came in on Wednesday from Texas I got it. Will take a look later today and get back to you.

Officially they have only talked about 9 and 10 but there have been murmurs about them quietly taking 8s too (that started even before the grounding).

Same here but I’ve seen multiple people claiming now that they have -8’s on order. But nothing firm anywhere to confirm it.

They have -8's on order. The last time I saw the firing order this is what I was able to capture. But may have changed with the cancelled orders and shuffling of frames.

15 -8s coming in relatively quick succession :spin: . 8035 should be 1st one. Woody, many of those allocations have changed beyond your 1st 3 but there's a lot of switching happening with the frames at the moment so don't want to commit by posting a list in case I end up with egg on my face  .

So MK returned with the name Ibiza. Engine covers were Tui. Will try to post photos tomorrow. Before bed tonight WH002 and N17529 delivery. Unfortunately fallen a little behind with the snow and with work.

Thanks for the info Brandon and also for sharing the latest 737 and 777-9 pics in the other thread! Seems to be quite a bit of activity with the UK TUIs recently so could be leaving the nest soon.

Just to bump this as it seems to have slipped off the page unnoticed. This site has a lot of WN people. Do we have any WN ops people who can comment on this "rumor"? What would their reason be for not taking the final prototype frame as they have done with the other 3?

Yeah - I figured that they would be outdated. That list was before the grounding and a lot of shuffling around in the firing order since. That's why it's not published on my site until confirmed.

Yes, situation very fluid at the moment with plenty of changes afoot and reshuffling going on.

I am aware of the following cancellations to become white tails, mainly huge cancellations by BOC, ALAFCO, Avolon and Aviation Capital Group, all transferred to Boeing ownership, including some direct airline cancellations.

Affected are:

Royal Air Maroc
SpiceJet
LOT Polish Airlines
SunExpress Deutschland
NordStar
BBJ customers x2 cancelled.
Air Europa
Corendon Airlines Europe
Utair Aviation
Oman Air
Mongolian Airlines
Eastar Jet
Gol Linhas Aéreas (looks like China Development Bank Finance are taking over (at least some of) the cancelled Avolon frame leases - see PR-XMM)
Ukraine International Airlines
Belavia Belarusian Airlines

No problem at all. All depends on work for me and how that works out since I work oncall. I’ve lucked out getting off in the mornings lately after working all night so just go hang out. Maybe take a nap

Also sounds like TUI will be the first in the UK to put it back into service. So not a surprise to see all this activity and will probably see them all deliver together shortly I’d guess. For some reason looks like NEO’s who supposedly ready for delivery went back to Renton the other day. Need to stop by and get it in the next couple days once I’m back from Portland.

Neos went to Renton when BFI was closed due the gas leak.

Think that was probably just a coincidence, Woody, as it filed a flight plan at 7.30 am BFI-PAE-RNT.

I’d agree except it was filed to Renton the entire time along with one other flight that day. It was originally parked on the west line and now in the back line with a bunch of Boeing peeps looking at the engines and looked like some kind of class going on. I posted a pic of it on Twitter. Need to edit one off the big camera tonight.

Another Ural has rolled out. Only green plane at Renton yesterday.

If list is accurate that would be LN7945...

So the greenie is 7967, we do have a painted URAL that is registered VP-BGO that appears to be 7945 on planespotters.

It SEEMS that Boeing is cherry picking fuselages in the 7900-8000 region to complete for which airlines are willing to take delivery. For instance there is still no sightings for LNs 7904 to 7908 and many others after that, while Alaska (LN 7961) and Southwest (LN 7975) are already flying. Perhaps they are allocated to airlines like Xiamen, Jet Airways, Norwegian or a lessor who can't or couldn't care less to get them at this time, and they leave these fuselage unfinished on this moment. Eventually they will finish them of course.

Any info as to where these LNs are being stored... RNT ? Spirt ? would have thought that many fuselages to draw the camera by now.

Spirit yard and train sidings over there. They are only sending what Boeing tells them, based on the customer being able to take delivery AND fly it away. BFI is at capacity. As soon as one leaves, another comes out of storage to replace it.

@Woody thanks for the updates. How is your Old Man doing?

Lucky Air B38M B-207Q was pinging at Victorville yesterday afternoon. China ban lifting imminent? Or being prepped for a new customer given Lucky Air is under the HNA Group umbrella?

He is doing okay, my sister came over to sit with him so that I could make a trip to renton. She will do that again for me next Wednesday.

BOE053 departed VCV today and returned to the home nest of Renton. Of course the day I am off from work that was the only MAX to fly. Not worth the 30 minute drive up just for a southwest MAX 8 as bad as I want to get a MAX landing at Renton. Yesterday and the day before while working and in Portland a ton of MAX flew it seemed like. Just my luck, can't win the day before my birthday :banghead: :rotfl:

I’m seeing P8s with LNs above 8200 as delivered.. are there truly hundreds of green hulls just sitting out in the open somewhere and no pictures...

Hi everyone,

I look through this thread a few times a week and really appreciate the work that goes into it. As someone who doesn't really understand how the production and/or line numbers work, could someone help me out?

Taking a random selection (screenshot below) of MAX aircraft from the planespotters production list (7626-7640), why is it that there are two aircraft that are active and all the rest are still on order? Is this caused by the MAX groundings and/or COVID? If not, why are they being built/delivered out of order? I would really appreciate any insight into this!

EDIT - I've just seen this link https://737-max.blogspot.com/ and it seems planespotters just has the aircraft as 'on order' if they haven't been delivered. Thanks WoodysAeroimag - assuming this is your website?

As you say in your edit it’s a reflection of what has been delivered and what hasn’t. Max deliveries (and production) in terms of LN is currently all over the place as obviously Boeing is only delivering to customers who can operate the planes and are still customers. Which has generally meant that so far recent Max deliveries skew heavily towards US airlines as the US was an early lifter of the ban and most US airlines are willing and financially able to take the planes at the moment.

Just to bump this as it seems to have slipped off the page unnoticed. This site has a lot of WN people. Do we have any WN ops people who can comment on this "rumor"? What would their reason be for not taking the final prototype frame as they have done with the other 3?

I've only heard rumors. I'll reach out to some people and see if I can find someone who knows. In the meantime, you might ask in the WN fleet thread. More WN posters watch that thread than this one, I think. Maybe someone over there knows for sure.

Polot answer's right, but I give a longer background answer. At the moment of the grounding mid march 2019, Boeing had delivered most aircraft until around LN 7432. This figure is counting the production of NG and MAX, it's the 7432th of these aircraft built. They decided they'd continue production in almost full speed (only lowering from 52 to 42 per month), underestimating the time it would take before the grounding was lifted. About 460 more were built in the following 10 months, mostly already painted in the airline colours they were allocated to, by the time in january 2020 they finally decided to halt production they already reached around LN 7892. The screenshot you show is the production of 2 weeks in july 2019. All these aircraft have been completed but ferried to parking spaces and storage airports waiting for the moment the airlines can take delivery. As Polot pointed out, mainly Southwest, United, American are taking delivery of this block of built but undelivered 737s already. Boeing built a lot for Chinese airlines. China didn't lift the grounding yet so these frames will remain parked for a few more months I guess. China might even reject taking delivery of them. I see a few others on your screenshot which might be near delivery now; Air Canada, GOL and SmartWings are flying other frames already so they can easily take these ones as well. SpiceJet (money issues) and BOC (few airlines will line up to lease an aircraft now) are the two aircraft on your screenshot most likely to hang around gathering dust long, maybe it will take up to two or three years before all the storage yards are cleared.
After Boeing restarted production, they take a whole different strategy, they only finish LN's which are allocated to eagerly waiting airlines. It seems there are hundreds of fuselages in the 7900-8400 region stacked in Wichita and Boeing only cherry pick out a few dozen, like 7927, 7928, 7938, 7942, 7943, 7945, 7946, 7949 etc to finish nów and wait for the others to be made later just in time for when the airline wants them.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Woody/Brandon, which RYR is in A7 at RNT please? Can't be sure from your recent pics Woody as there's 3 of them on the flight line. And is it EI-HEZ in C15 at BFI? Something pinging an N reg from there.

I think that people could be perhaps jumping the gun with the RYR line numbers. Is there any official proof that 7965 is EI-HGJ? The registrations are not populated on my data which often is an indicator that some late switcheroos could be in progress. It's worth noting that earlier frames with allocations SP-RZE and SP-RZF for Buzz have seemingly not been sighted based on lack of online pics, yet later frames SP-RZG and SP-RZH are already fully painted. It's also worth noting that some frames have been reallocated to Malta Air so one should expect 9H- registrations there.

These LNs are all for Aviation Finance and Leasing Limited for operation by the Ryanair group:
