According to flightradar24 the most recent prior flight for N27251 was on 6-22-21 as Boeing Flight 451, thus today's flight is a delivery flight. If my count is correct then this flight, if completed, will be the 24th completed MAX delivery flight of June 2021.

I wonder if N27251, once in Newark, will be involved in United's Tuesday media event there. United's MAX delivery flights earlier this year usually, if not always, went to SeaTac (SEA, 6 miles from BFI) and United has a major hub and maintenance base at San Francisco (SFO, 685 miles from BFI) , both much closer than Newark (2390 miles).

"Forbes cites unnamed sources close to the deal, saying the rumored order is likely to be the biggest ever. They say the announcement is imminent. Next Tuesday’s investor’s update is flagged as a probable time. United Airlines is also holding a media event at Newark on the same day."

I was wondering as much today. I did photograph that plane landing today, only noticing last night that the flight was posted on Flightradar24.

At least UA has the exact same configuration with the 738/7M8 and the 739/7M9. Also, why are these planes generally IAH-based?

You will probably get a better answer in the UA thread but the MAX 9s from what I've seen, seem to be based out of DEN and IAH. Lots of MAX 9 flying out of both of those hubs.

Is there any update on the VietJet Air MAX? Or is it still sitting in some corner at RNT with the temp reg on?

If they were still building them in the right order there should have been another 4 frames last year, but they've all been deferred and not built except the first one.

How long does it take a 500 MPH airliner to travel a straight line distance of 6 miles? The answer for N291BT today was 31 minutes. Aircraft were taking off to the north at BFI and SEA this afternoon and after taking off from BFI, N291BT had to turn south for about 60 miles before it was sequenced, near Mineral, WA, into the arriving northbound flow of traffic into SEA.

Why does Aeromexico has some planes with American registration, and some with Mexican? Do they only use the N-regs for flights to the US?

Easier for the leaser to reposes it if they have too. Also US lessor wants it registered in the US.

According to the Fox Business story at the link below, United Airline's new order for 200 MAX aircraft announced today 6-29-21 will include 25 MAX white tails.

"The deal includes 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 150 MAX 10, accelerating a recovery for the MAX in the wake of a two-year safety crisis overlapping with a COVID-19 travel slump."

"The order includes 25 737 MAX "white tails", or orders cancelled by other buyers during a lengthy safety grounding."

Bellow is a link to United's press release on their new orders, which also included 70 A321neo's.

The excerpt below from the Seattle Times story at the link after the excerpt, agrees with the Fox Business story that I cited above about United having purchased 25 MAX whitetails, but disagrees with the FOX story regarding when they were purchased. The FOX story states that the 25 whitetails were part of the new order announced today, whereas the Seattle Times story states that they were all purchased in March of this year, and that no whitetails were included in the new order that was announced today.

“United placed an order in March for 25 MAXs, all of which were planes originally bought by other airlines that had abandoned their purchases. A United spokesperson said none of the planes in the newly announced order are taken over from previous customers, but are additions to Boeing’s order book.”

If my count is correct then this flight, if completed, will be the 31st completed MAX delivery flight of June 2021, and the 4th of today. Four delivery flights in one day? Random fluctuation, or was someone told to not bother to show up for their next performance review if they couldn't get 31 aircraft delivered this month?

Not only end of June. End of 2nd Quarter, and end of the first half of the year. I always see a rise in rail traffic last week of every month. Sorry no airport near me to gauge.

If Boeing is averaging 20 plus Max deliveries a month, that's surely put a big dent
in the backlog of undelivered frames :)

I am all for looking at things optimistically, but their published goal is 31/month in factory output in early 2022 and 42/month in fall of 2022, along with whatever they can deliver from the earlier builds, so delivering 20+/month is nice but also is just an early milestone on the path towards recovery. It's great they've gotten past MCAS and past the grounding problems but IMO they still have a long way to go. I wish them luck. I hope they find ways to avoid being their own worst enemy.

Wow a box fresh 737! When will they enter service with the operator?

On a related note anyone have an idea on how many of last months deliveries were box fresh and how many came out of grounding?

If we take as rule of thumb that all LN's pre 7900 have been grounded (mostly built by january 2020) and everything above 7900 is 'box fresh' (recently built for immediate delivery).
Of the 34 deliveries in june, 7 were above LN7900, and the other 27 were grounded (in the range 7300-7900). I think it's a good thing to get the older frames out with priority, there are still around 360-70 parked.

Quick tally of the frames to date :

BFI 51 frames (includes current test frames, prototype frames and storage frames). 29 in long-term storage either across the street or control tower.
MWH 219 frames
PDX 3 frames (all there for paint)
RNT 4 frames (only counting the ones which have flown and returned)
SKF 52
VCV 29

Gives a total of at least 333 frames still in storage as there are still the Buzz, GOL and VietJet frames at RNT to add which haven't yet flown. Call it around 340 frames for round numbers. Long way to go to get all those out of the door.

Another 8-200 delivered to Ryanair today. EI-HGP touched down in Dublin this afternoon. I believe that makes four MAX aircraft now delivered to Ryanair.

According to flightradar24, Ryanair 737-8-200 EI-HGP (LN 8077) departed Boeing Field at 1:12 AM PDT today 7-7-21, enroute to Dublin (DUB), operating as Ryanair Flight 82P. If my counts are correct then this flight was the 4th MAX delivery flight for Ryanair, and the 3rd MAX delivery flight of July 2021.

Does anyone know any updates on the certification for the MAX 7? Have additional frames begun final assembly?

Just in: China has expressed its willingness to conduct test flights on the 737 MAX, a crucial step to allow the aircraft to be introduced back into service in that country.

My guess is China will un-ground the 737 Max in October if the rumored Biden-Xi face-to-face at G20 in Italy actually happens. The US seems to be turning down the temperature this week, so perhaps China will reciprocate.

Seeing newly built Max frames at RNT painted up in Chinese liveries is a good sign, one would think.

Interesting that the vertical stabilizers are trimmed up all the way, never seen that before.
