IMO, FR is ordering MAX 10s soon. It has made comments about doing so multiple times this year, its just publicly negotiating.
In this case there's really no negotiating, he's made his bed with Team B. He may be wanting to pressure them into offering better prices, but one does have to wonder at what point does Boeing feel it has the orders it needs for its post-MCAS and post-pandemic recovery and won't be that willing to offer the kinds of discounts seen on the last rounds of big orders (AS, WN, FR, UA).
Agree, I debated how to phrase it - its negotiating price really. The statements have all indicated "if the price is right" so BA must not be giving FR the discount it wants. If I had to guess, FR used its credits with the additional MAX 8 200 order earlier and wants basically the same or something to to compensate a bit for those credits for the MAX 10.
Complete aside, FR plans 600 aircraft by 2026 (adding about 140, so retiring 60-70 with the full MAX 8 200 deliveries, if I'm doing math correct, which is always questionable). Apparently, EasyJet will decrease down to about 300 and Wizz will increase to a bit above 200. FR is impressively aggressive.
