Is there any plan to stop A220-100 production at the end of 2022?

It is just a submodel. It will be produced as demand requires. So it would be silly other than to plan producing A221s as per demand.

With the A221 based business jet, we should from that alone expect deliveries in the future.

It’s kind of naive to think there won’t ever be another order for the -100.

This was to have been the first BFM A220-300 delivery, though from the A320 FAL at that time. Repairs and component replacement were required due to damage from fire retardant.

Would DL have received a discount on what could be loosely called a used aircraft? I have no doubt that it was delivered like new.

Trujet of India apparently is finalizing an agreement for 54 A220s in addition to 52 E190-E2s. The A220 variant was not disclosed, but I could definitely see the -300, which would be larger than the E190-E2.

Apparently, Airbus and Embraer have identified aircraft to get the carrier to 21 aircraft almost immediately (so, 14 aircraft above their 7 ATRs). My question is, what aircraft does Airbus have that it can provide almost immediately?

https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news ... w-investor

Edit, I see 1 KE NTU, 6 Red Wings NTU per https://www.abcdlist.nl/cseries/cseries.html. All are -300s, which would make sense with my theory.

There is the one early -300 which was meant to be the first for Korean Airlines (MSN 55017).
There is on NTU from Vanuatu (MSN 55089) and the six from GTLK.
But some of these six will soon be with Air Manas and Ibom Air.
https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news ... ntl-growth
https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news ... -add-a220s

So not a lot that Airbus could provide short term.

As for the E190E2 there are two available, which were build for Hainan. One of the was leased to Wideroe for half a year or so (LN-WEX).
But the delivery skyline of the E190E2/E195E2 is not filled, so Embraer could start building some aircraft for them relatively quick, IF enough parts to build them are in storage.

The A220 production now equals the B717 production at 156:
https://www.airfleets.net/exploit/production-b717.htm
https://www.airfleets.net/exploit/production-csr.htm

Now quite a few [strike]CS100[/strike] A220-100 need to become business jets, but I thought that was interesting they had acheived parity on total quantity produced.

That is interesting. Boeing was able to kill the 717, but thankfully not the 220.

That's very interesting indeed.
It took the 717 from EIS in 1999 to 2006 to reach 156 deliveries. Granted, had they launched the 717-300 for American et al, I think they'd have sold far more. But they didn't. Boeing ultimately offered nothing to replace the 717 sized aircraft (the 736 being less than half as popular as the 712!).
The C-Series entered service in 2015, and here we are in a pandemicked 2021, at the same number. And that's in spite of it being a new design, full of high-tech wizardry and teething problems... while my beloved 717 was a low-risk, warmed-over DC-9/80/90 with an MD-11 cockpit. For reasons, that 717 couldn't even win orders from entrenched DC-9 operators Northwest and SAS. They depended on AirTran and a cash-strapped TWA, who ordered 50 but ultimately only 21 were delivered to TW/AA.

A.net wisdom keeps saying that the A220 will never succeed unless Airbus can ramp up to some ridiculous monthly number like 20 or 40 or 60, depending on which 'expert' is typing.
The iPhone generation may expect everything to be produced by the millions, but I'm unconvinced that an airliner has to be built as quickly as a 737 or A320 to be a long term "success."

Agreed; apart from that confounded BombardiHavilland legacy hydraulic PTU barking and screeching throughout takeoff and approach, I absolutely adore riding in the A220.
Perhaps even more than I did the 717.

Hi, I haven't read all the posts here but I see the first A220 for Air Austral is still undergoing test flights. It is more then 3 months old now, is it normal for a brandnew airplane taking more then 3 months for testing before being delivered to its customer or does the Covid pandemic have an influence too? When is the first Air Austral A220 planned for delivery to the airline?

It was delayed regarding ETOPS 180 certification. Regarding the PW engine issue, ETOPS 180 was lost and now after software updates are certified (and implemented), the ETOPS 180 certification is back again. Air Austral has ordered the A220 with ETOPS 180, since few weeks, the A220 is back in flight test and will be taken up soon.

Lightsaber conventional wisdom says you need about 24 per year to stay viable - 2 per month.

Another Lightsaber rule of thumb is costs drop by ⅛ for every doubling of production rate.

So if the list price of A220-300 is 92 million and you ignore many, many factors - if you go to 8 per month (100/year) you should be down to 70.4 million

737-7 list is 100 million. At 32/month that would be 59 million.

So a plane starts 8 million cheaper, ends up 11 million more expensive.

Now Boeing probably assumes a higher base production rate, but it is not unreasonable to assume a 2/month A220-300 is MUCH more expensive than a 50/month 737-7.

That is why so many harp about getting the A220 production rate up.
