First Airbus A220 for Air Austral and probably the first one for a French airline, if Air Austral take delivery of this aircraft before Air France:

Interesting it appears the a220s will replace their ATRs and sole Boeing 737-800. I guess it’s the right size for the Reunion - Africa market.

Yes, about St Pierre (the other airport in Reunion Island), i know that Air Mauritius serves the airport with A319s, they even sent the A330Neo (special flight), so the despite the short runway the A220 can land. But about Rodrigues in Mauritius, i think the runway is too short for the A220.

How many more A220s for Delta expected this year? I assume most of their A220-100 orders have been filled - correct?

6 more A220-100 are left. A couple months ago in our A220 fleet newsletter they mentioned deliveries for 2021 and not all 6 were suppose to be delivered. I believe since then the delivery schedule has changed again and now just I am waiting on Delta to upload the Q4 10Q to see if they have the updated delivery schedule in that.

I don't believe there will be a 4Q 10-Q. The Annual Report obviates that.

6 or 7? Airbus December O&D shows 38 of 45 delivered. Website https://www.abcdlist.nl/cseries/cseries.html is totalling 44 with 38 delivered, 2 in test, and 4 remaining - 1 missing.

I think an educated guess would be that nobody knows the answer at this time. By nobody, I mean not even JetBlue. If someone knows better, please enlighten us all.

I think JetBlue has a good idea:
https://www.jetblue.com/flying-with-us/our-planes/A220
"It will be flying our Boston to Fort Lauderdale (and back!) route starting this June."
The last 10-Q filing in November has them taking another 7 this year.

Hi all,
Not sure if this has been discussed before, but what is the status of the last swiss A220-100 , last I heard it was supposed to be converted to a A220-300 order, if so what has happened to the original airframe?

Thanks for any updates

There were two half build A220 for Swiss, which have been parked for prolonged times, 50018 and 50019. 50018 was completed in 2019, but what has been seen, it is so much workload to bring the jet to up to date status, it is not worth to do it.
So most likely this half build frame will go the same way as the others (50007 to 50009 (as I know, these are scrapped) and also the A220-300 55017 (still "stored" outside or also already scrapped??), it will be parked for some more time and then scrapped.

Does someone has an up to date aerial/satellite image of the Mirabel airport? Are still two half build frames parked outside or is it reduced to one?

50018 was delivered to Swiss - 50019 was not.

There is also 50017 which was originally destined for Korean and then updated to be an ACJ. This might also be fate for 50019 with the recent corporate jet launch.

Swiss is scheduled to take an additional 300 in 2021 in lieu of 50019.

Your answer indicates that you didn’t read the original question. The poster wanted the date, as in the exact day it will fly its first revenue flight. I’m sure they have a target, but that seems to be “June.” The exact day can’t possibly be known at this time.

My response was to "By nobody, I mean not even JetBlue."

A service entry would likely have a Program Manager who has defined milestone that teams are reporting against including that for introduction.

Might they change it for any number of reasons? Sure, but it should be expected they have a date.

Six months seems like a very long time from delivery to revenue service for a very expensive capital outlay like a new aircraft. Is this normal, or is JetBlue just slow?

It’s on the longer side but not unheard for a brand new type in an aircrafts fleet. But the pandemic has meant JetBlue is in no rush, and also airlines typically don’t like to start service with only one aircraft in the fleet.

It is a long time, but it is also a new fleet type. Does anyone remember how “well” the 190 introduction into service went? I would say that the memory of that experience is still fresh enough, and it will not be repeated.

The E190 was a case of JetBlue being the launch customer and like any new aircraft, there were issues. Too many for JetBlue. 15 years ago we had a thread on JetBlue's on-time rate and the E190 was a problem for them, in particular at first:
viewtopic.php?t=384329

The A220 is different. Swiss, AirBaltic, and Delta took care of the teething issues of a new type. I agree that was a very bad memory for JetBlue and is probably part of why they went with the A220 (more technically savy customers who initiated the aircraft into service).

However, route proving and crew familiarization seem to be given more time. It will be interesting to see how quickly the A220s change the network.

Another possible confusion here is that this was its fifth test flight on 26 Jan 2021, not its first, as confirmed on the link. The first test flight was on 16 Dec 2020. Thanks.

Latest movement for 8 February 2021...noteworthy because it's supposed to be going to DL, but has been delayed due to the fire suppression system incident on 13 September 2020...also not shown in the link is that this frame had several test flights in 2020 prior to this incident:

MSN 55069 Delta Air Lines A220-300 C-GPWC/N301DU, engine run and taxi check at BFM:

Correction on the incident dates which I mistyped...it happened on 13 September 2019, so almost 17 months ago.

Latest movement for 9 February 2021:

MSN 10069 Delta Air Lines A220-300 C-GPWC/N301DN, second engine run and taxi check at BFM. Also another correction due to getting the dates mixed up...this frame has not had its maiden test flight yet as the previously mentioned incident happened during its production...my bad!
