How many still to be delivered? This one will be the last, I guess…

I read somewhere the last A380 will be delivered in May 2022.
Is that "information" correct?

Five left to deliver - all EK.

The Bloomberg's report last summer EK wanna cancel them. If that happens then the Airbus may not ever deliver thems.

That would be an interesting contract negotiations. It wasn't that long ago deliveries were postponed to 2022. One always starts further from the picked final position and work to a negotiated position. It is almost as if EK went to the AAB school of carpet inspection (my opinion) to negotiate the delay.

So 2 this year, 3 next year. This will be a slow thread.

You cling to the report from last summer even when Tim Clark told in an interview in December when the last frames will be delivered ?
Strange , to say at least.

It was contractually delivered on 30th October but is stored.

The first two were delivered in 2019.

Yes because the Mr Clark always does his business in interviews doesn't he? Sigh...

anyway, let us see what unfolds with last these five deliveries. If the air travel improve with global vaccine, then this may be good timed.

ABCDlist’s latest update has MSN 272, the final A380, as now awaiting first flight in Toulouse. With that, final assembly line production is complete.

That means the vendors have been shut for months. While I assume that A380 revival threads will rival the 757 re-engine threads for their common future. However, the cost to restart is huge. Airbus will no longer have a trained line staff in six months and many will take new positions that are better for themselves and won't return.

Yes, we have some evidence via Twitter and FR24 presumably via ADS-B location reports:

The last two #Airbus #A380 build (MSN 271 & 272) have left the final assembly line and are visible on the @flightradar24

I hope this tarmac is NOT shared with the A350 production?

If so, where is everybody?

cheers

Filtering has been turned on to only show A380 flights (that’s the yellow airplane icon).

If I'm understanding what you're asking correctly - the aircraft that aren't powered on will not show up on FR24 or any flight tracking service. If you're referring to the lack of aircraft on the ground imagery, many satellite services use technology that erases the aircraft at airports. Take a look at JFK or another big airport on Google Maps/Earth and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks.

Indeed, I am not familiar with FR24.

Apparently MSN 271 left TLS for XFW yesterday...

One left...

So that means there are now 4 being outfitted in XFW (268, 269, 270, 271), with ANA’s 266 stored in TLS and 272 awaiting first flight in TLS.

4 weeks after it last moved on the 20th of January. Which was 4 weeks after it previously moved on the 23rd of December. Which was 3 weeks 6 days after it previously moved on the 26th of November. Which was 4 weeks 1 day after it previously moved on the 28th of October, two days before contractual hand-over. I assume there is a calendar limit on how long it can be not run before additional checks or long-term storage processes become applicable, and these regular movements are to satisfy that?

Aircraft sitting in storage do this all the time. You can't let it sit there forever. These checks need to be done on a regular basis. There likely is more frequent ground checks/visual inspections done then the taxi checks.

It has finally happened. The final A380 ever built, MSN 272 (F-WWSH/A6-EVS), made its maiden flight from TLS to XFW. It is the end of an era.

Between Wikipedia and that abcdlist.nl page it looks like 251 were ordered and a total of 254 have flown. Not as many as Airbus would have hoped for but it has been a fascinating story to watch unfold and then quickly fold back up. I read this 2021 thread all in one go. Rather sentimental, reading them through to the countdown to the last first flight.
