Well they've got to announce relatively soon, given the launch date is October 8th...

Makes complete sense to me as well. Win win all round.
- AA can add some destinations to its route map out of IND to places it's never going to serve itself, and for which changing plane in a hub is not efficient
- Contour can tap into a ready-made ff base to fill its planes
And they already partner anyway, it's just taking it to the next level

Yes and it would put Delta in a huge hole at IND

DL dug that fine hole it finds itself in all on its own ;)

If it doesn't wake up soon, it'll be like AUS. Game over!

"In June, the airport's "enplanement traffic" — the number of people who boarded flights — was about 17% lower than June 2019. In August and September, the airport predicts seat capacity — the number of seats available across all flights — will reach within 10% of pre-pandemic levels."

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but it looks like AA is planning on resuming JFK on Tuesday, November 2nd. They've finally updated the aircraft type to a Republic E75, whereas previous placeholder schedules had it as an Envoy ER4 since that's what was used previously.

They added a few markets.DSM-PSP also. Just not sure how much people even know about PSP east of the Rockies.

It'll be interesting to see if AS does anything. They've been talking PSP up quite a bit lately, and will be flying it from AUS this winter, although they're quite a bit smaller in IND than they are at AUS, so maybe not.

MSY isn't new

PSP is what I would call "utilization flying", the timings of the flight indicate the plane would otherwise be sitting on the ground, and this way they can get another airplane to a gate at night.

9:50PM IND-PSP
11:55PM PSP-IND

Still think IND-SAN or SNA would have made more sense, but oh well.

I think I agree with you. I went to PSP last winter and I did really like it but I just like I said earlier it is kind of an unknown in the midwest/east. SAN seems like it would have been better.

Looking at the May LFs, the seat blocking isn't an excuse anymore, and the gap between AA & DL is quite pronounced even in LFs (and this is with DL running much less capacity):

G4 IND-LAX-94.1% (2 departures)
G4 IND-BOS-93.0% (2 departures)
G4 IND-CHS-84.1% (2 departures)
G4 IND-SFB-81.7%
G4 IND-LAS-74.7% (2 departures)

UA IND-IAD-84.0%
UA IND-HHH-68.0% (2 departures)
UA IND-PWM-63.0% (4 departures)
UA IND-CHS-58.5% (4 departures)
----------------------------------------------

G4 looks to be up to 11 departures per day next March, which I believe is a new high for them at IND

I think next up for G4 would be: PDX, SAN, SNA, SAT, or potentially if they open it up, MIA. EWR is another possibility, although they haven't grown much from there.

I think ORF, MLB, and/or ORF could work, it's just that IND is a A320 station. Not saying it will happen, but the logistics get interesting if G4 adds another aircraft (A319) to IND. Especially depending where Contour ends up, and if AS goes back to 2x daily to SEA.

Would love to see them give BZN or JAC a try

I will be traveling to IND from AMS next month and when I was purchasing I was stunned to see that business class was not much more than economy. On the outbound I am traveling with my father, who already has an economy ticket, so I stayed with him - but I am traveling solo for the return and it was only $250 more than economy. That is a deal I cannot pass up!

Had I selected business both ways it would have only been about $500 more than economy (which was $1050). I checked to see what the cost would be to upgrade my father to business and it was a whopping $3300 extra.

Lol, the shapes I put in, that's not part of the actual route map.

I can see why it would be confusing though.

for your father did you use the "upgrade" function or the "change flight " function?. it could be quite a difference in cost from one to the other?

Some big moves from DL last night:
IND-RDU axed (your move AA)
DL is going all A220 on IND-BOS
DL is putting the A220 on IND-SEA next year
DL upguaging IND-SLC to the A320

When will these changes show up on Delta.com?

I had changed my Thanksgiving flight from LEX-ATL-SAN-DTW-LEX to CVG-SLC-SAN-ATL-CVG because they chopped the schedule so much last week j didn't want to be stuck in ATL. Delta wanted me to double connect coming back so I changed to CVG.

Should be up now, BOS is the interesting one since they only fly the A220s from BOS to 5 other markets I believe, and 3 of those were/are focus cities and the other two are ORD/DFW:

I used the "upgrade" option. I also checked premium economy - was only available one way for $499.

Quick question for you all looking forward into the future what Airlines will IND get I still think that B6 can still come in?

After B6 there is really nothing left domestically, except Hawaiian - and that is never going to happen. There are a couple niche carriers, but I don't see them doing anything with IND. So that only leaves international airlines. Air Canada will surely return eventually. The only other I see as possible would be AeroMexico or perhaps British Airways (assuming Delta and American stay out of the transatlantic market).

Volaris and Viva I would say are way more likely than AeroMexico

Depends how far in the future.....depending on the timeline I think BA, WS, AM, & B6 could be in play.

The problem with B6 today is that they would likely start with IND-BOS or JFK or both, but both routes are too crowded especially with DL going all mainline next year. In addition to this NEA making unnecessary competition on either route unlikely, although they haven't codeshared to IND yet.

Domestic is the big focus now though and IND is still missing SAN, SAT, RDU, MCI, & PDX

Thanks! But no IND-ORD data available?

I can't really do airline specific numbers for ORD or LGA data since for ORD, UA & AA use some of the same equipment. Same for DL & AA to LGA.

If you combine all carriers on IND-ORD, overall load factor was 82.1%

IND-LGA was 67.6%

IND-EYW added

"Rodriguez said the Key West flight marks number 21 in a growing line up of nonstop flights announced so far in 2021, and it marks the fifth new destination out of Indy that Allegiant has added this year."

Unless I missed something, IND now has service to virtually every airport in Florida worth mentioning. The next two up in order of size are Tallahassee and Daytona Beach. There is no market for Tallahassee - however, if Allegiant ever picks up Daytona Beach I can see full planes headed down to skip the drive from Orlando.

Allegiant just announced MLB in Melbourne Florida as a destination but NOT IND so MLB could be next

Not sure when it happened - seems we all missed it, but Air Canada resumes Toronto with 2x daily on October 31st.
