Rossiya - 9 stored, no communication on the retirement
Like I posted in this thread earlier, in mid-2020 Rossiya announced in a quotation to Air Transport Observation that it plans to retire its 747-400s in 2024.
The original quotation was on the newsfeed. However, it was reported by Russian business media as well. (link in Russian).

Wamos - 1 stored, no communication on the retirement
Note 1: This list does not include aircraft that are used for military charters, government flying, football charters etc, only regular flights that a normal human can book.
Note 2: I consider an aircraft "active" if it has flown a passenger flight at least once in the last month.

She was the last pax 747 left at KLM. 50 years of 747 passenger service at KLM is now forever gone...

What’s the source for the remaining 8 being retired immediately with a buyer? I can’t find it in any of those links; all seem to say the 747-400s are being phased out and that 5 are already retired. Of course very likely the remaining 8 will not return, but I hadn’t seen anything confirming this until your post?

there isn't, my bad. Just the 5 previously retired were sold. Also, its not 100% confirmed for 747-400 retirement, only 98%.

Is there any fate of what will happen to this airframe? Will it get converted?

Even greater news, Mahan air has said that both EP-MNE and EP-MND (its 2 747-300's) will go back into service. The 747 classic is back!

Absolutely FANTASTIC news
Just wondering: with so many B747-400s being retired, why can't any of these go to Iran? I'm aware about the sanctions, but Iranian carriers seem to be able to get some older jets from time to time... and the Boeing 747 is a well known plane for their engineers and crews.
Boeing757100 wrote:I'm not sure, maybe the political situations? See, the US (and maybe others, I'm not sure) can't export planes to Iran, so no new builds for them. Not to mention sanctions and all that. But I wonder why Iran can't see what's available in the graveyards? I mean, if that were the case, we'd for sure be seeing more old 737 NG, 744s, 757s, 767s, A320/A330, and others in Iran, but I don't know if that's illegal too. Someone more educated about the politics can help you answer the question, I'm just giving a somewhat basic explanation.

Iran seem to be able to get some birds through some shady transactions, almost like a smuggling. I wish they could get some B747-400s and therefore save them from scrapping. Mahan Air got 3 or 4 B744s ex-United, but these were impounded and EP-MNB was the only one entering service... 10 years after storage!

Hi - any further news on this bird? She is the sister ship of ER-BAC, a 'paxargo' machine which has been getting regular work. Be interesting to know if -BAE has indeed rejoined the fleet after her extended period in CGK, presumably in the GMF AeroAsia workshop?

More stupid speculation from Simple Flying. You can scrap an aircraft in many better places than Kyrgyzstan
In the air cargo thread the massive Kyrgyz 747 fleet is being tracked (including PaxCargo). More likely it's getting pressed into service there.

bennett123 wrote:Given all the talk from Avatar about acquiring ex BA B747, G-BYGE is now in the scrapping area at Kemble.
Given that it was one of the newest BA B747, with less than 90K hours seems pretty conclusive.
No, you ain't getting them.
bennett123 wrote:I went to Kemble yesterday and parting has started on G-BYGE, (and F-HSEA).
G-CIVO has also been moved to the scrapping area.
Given that she also only had 94K hours, it is unlikely to be the last.

It is odd to me that if I am not mistaken, there is a larger net number of 747 classics flying today compared to 2020 than the number of 747-400s flying compared to 2020
