I don't think that's true at all.
Effective July 17th 2021, the GORTT opened the borders to
(1) Vaccinated Non-nationals- with a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to arrival, easy arrival, no quarantine and no further testing
(2) Vaccinated Nationals- with a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to arrival, no quarantine and no further testing
(3) Unvaccinated non-Nationals- who have to quarantine after providing a negative PCR test prior to arrival and completing a second negative test after 7 days on island.

I would argue that those rules are even more lax than Barbados which has largely remained open through the pandemic.

Cheers,
AA1818

Just one point, I think number 3 should be unvaccinated nationals. AFAIK, unvaccinated non-nationals are still banned from entry. I agree with your larger point. It’s fairly easy to enter T&T at this time. You just have to be vaccinated.

Apologies- I did mean unvaccinated nationals. Typo- my bad.

I believe so do PY, AA and BA. I'm not sure if UA has loaded flights for POS yet.

Anyone knows if/ when CM will return to POS. Did they fly into BGI pre-pandemic?

Cheers,

I think the tourism minister in BGI said CM is planning on returning however, no definitive date has been given. I would be surprised if they resumed service to BGI this year to be honest.

VS is pressing ahead with SVD (which was due to be launched in June 2021 but is now scheduled for 13 October on Wednesdays and Sundays). Flights will be LHR-BGI-SVD with the return via BGI using the 789.

SVD currently has Wednesday and Saturday flights from MIA by AA and expects Monday flights from YYZ by AC Rouge from 1 November. One day BW may reinstate its weekly JFK-SVD-POS flight (which was on Wednesdays IIRC).

CM returns to POS in September. Either the 1st or 5th of September. Not certain of frequency.

The 3rd BW 737MAX is out in RNT registered 9Y-ANT for Antigua
BW has increased KIN-JFK-KIN this week from 4w to 6w due to heavy loads on their flights

Actually they advertised the flights were starting August when they released the schedule out in early July, they are just now marketing it more. The flights have very good loads.

My understanding is that 9Y-GUY has been delivered to BW/ALC and is in PAE getting the Caribbean painted underneath the a/c and some other mods. The VP of Engineering and Chief Pilots were in RNT to take delivery of the a/c and it's supposed to be in POS in September. CAL is still being tested but it should also be ready for delivery.
I am not sure if BW is waiting for more NGs contracts to expire to take MAXs in, but they have been there longer than anticipated. I was told they were to be in POS in July.

Will they be putting the rainbow swirl as well? Did BW invest anything extra in their hard product on these new birds. Hopefully the fabric choice for the economy seats is more like the ATR than the original 737NG.

Yesterday (16 August) a VS 789 enroute from MAN to BGI diverted to LHR due to a cabin pressure warning caused by a crack in the cockpit windscreen.
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/vs77#28cd6c70
After an overnight stay passengers were transferred onto VS's scheduled flight from LHR to BGI, and this time there was no drama and the flight arrived at 1314 local time.

I can confirm no Rainbow swirl will be placed on the MAXs, only the ATRs will be getting these.
I can't confirm much anything on the hard and soft product, however all that I got was there will be an upgrade (Obviously). The last rumor I heard was F gets PTVs and Y is BYOD.

Looks like CM is resuming PTY-BGI in early December, twice a week. Exact same schedule as before cancelling due to the pandemic in March, 2020. Only change will be the equipment to a 737-800 as the E-190s and 737-700s are no longer in the fleet.

At least, I HOPE it stays so as I am booked for December 8!

If Colombia was to allow international flights in/out EOH (inside Medellín), perhaps it could have somewhat of an edge in the market.
But that distance on a Saab340, doesn't really makes the flight that appealing.
MDE CUR 046° (NE) 054° (NE) 605 mi
CUR EOH 228° (SW) 240° (SW) 611 mi
For shorter segments, be CUR - Riohacha, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Maicao.. probably yes.

It's yet to be seen if EzAir will get the proper approvals to operate the Saab 340 commercially from Curacao CAA. It hasn't operated a commercial flight as yet. The other Saabs are on hold as of now. And if they were to launch Medellin with the Saab, what would they be restricted to payload wise? The Saab 340s are notorious for not being able to take high payloads even at sea level, never mind at Medellin's elevation. I really don't know why EzAir went for the Saab's, and not only that, but choosing to keep them November registered...... Which is what the hold up with the approval is. Keeping it November registered means Curacao CAA has no oversight with the operation. And you can bet the FAA won't be checking up on it either..

Another question is why did Jetair send one of the Fokkers back to Holland in May? They're down to only one Fokker 70 now.

Jet Air send the fokker70 out for a C check this is what they are saying in the media.
EZ air will most probably de register their saab to PJ in the near future.

But still the big question remains how they will be able to compete and survive on a 600 nm segment of Curacao Medellin against the fokker 70 jet of Jet Air.

And also if there is enough space / market for a 30 seater on the ABC routes competing against the CRJ 200 of Aruba airlines and the twin otters of Divi Divi Air.

From what I understand deregistration is not possible under the agreement with Silver Airways. Hence the problem.

Jetair's second Fokker, PJ-JAB wasn't sent back for a C-Check. It's currently in storage at a Dutch Air Base since May.

Then their is a chance that JETAIR run out of cash due to covid. Very tricky to operate with only one aircraft.
For EZair can you operate for a long time with a november registered aircraft under a Curacao AOC? Didnt know this was posible.

As for Aruba airlines, any news when they will resume operations?

I believe Curacao allows ACMI (which is what leaving it as November would entail) for 6-12 months. But I'm lead to believe that this isn't an option for them, it has to be deregistered. With Silver not wanting this to happen. Time will tell what happens with regards to this.

Not sure what's going on with Aruba Airlines, but I'm sure its not on the up and up based on what I've heard....

Not sure if they are going bankrupt. That I don't know.

Their problems recently have stemmed from embargos being put on their bank accounts for one reasons or the other. They may have money, but getting access to it is another story. That's about as much as I should say.

Without deregistration EZAIR will need to change aircraft after 1 year.

Thats bad for Aruba Airlines. When you are a very bad payer with plenty of debts this happens.

Barbados PM today announced that B6 will resume FLL-BGI-FLL in November. Not sure of the frequency or start date yet. Only a brief statement during a press conference today.

Anyone knows if/ when CM will return to POS. Did they fly into BGI pre-pandemic?

Cheers,
AA1818

I think the tourism minister in BGI said CM is planning on returning however, no definitive date has been given. I would be surprised if they resumed service to BGI this year to be honest.

Interesting re CM returning I guess everything is tentative at this point, the E190 really was better suited for the route.

As the GoRTT makes it impossible or difficult for many to visit the country it's no surprise that airlines aren't rushing to resume flights. I see that BA won't serve POS and TAB from LGW until 28 September and 1 October respectively, and only with weekly flights.

TT is not the only Caribbean country restricting entry by non nationals only to those vaccinated. Unlike some these do not need to quarantine. Given that travel into TT is heavily VFR, returning nationals/residents, and business I do not think that this is onerous. I assume that most people traveling on international business will be vaccinated given ever evolving protocols and the need to minimize quarantine.

While BGI does allow unvaccinated non nationals they will be in quarantine for up to a week. I do not see US travelers being interested in this given that their trips are usually for no more than a week. So TT is really not that onerous. Guyana also requires, (or will require) vaccinations for non nationals.

It's unlikely any Caribbean airline is doing well in this environment.

I just spoke with them. They said that they are doing good.

Regarding cargo/caribbean baggage loads they said the following: quote: "There are some markets with endless requests to carry luggage" but we are working on giving cargo options for that routes, as we continue to expanding the fleet"

We can expect intercaribbean airways in Curacao and Aruba by the end of 2021.

Celebrating 26 years of service in February 2018, interCaribbean Airways is a regional airline based in Providenciales, The Turks & Caicos Islands. With a hub in Providenciales connecting to cities in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Antigua and the British Virgin Islands, Dominica and St Lucia. New schedule services to Aruba, Curacao, Trinidad and Guyana are imminent.

Surinam Airways is wetleasing an Avion Airbus321 to substitute their 737-700 aircraft which were grounded or taken back by lease company.
Do you see a market increase capacity on their current routes?

AA using E175s in the Caribbean is nothing new. I know that MIA-PLS had E175s on it until recently.

JY is a very entrepreneurial airline which believes in ultra optimistic messaging. This means that they jump into markets or promise airlift that they are unable to deliver. As of now they are only operating a fraction of what they did 2 years ago due to Covid. I cannot imagine that they are in great shape given the sharp decline in intra regional travel and restrictions in work permits being issued to intra regional migrants, given the difficulties in tourism. We will see if they can full resume their services later this year as their schedule suggests that they plan to. Cuba remains virtually closed, and that is a big market for them.
