It seems that N607AS (the Timbers plane) flew from Portland to Victorville the other day! Does that mean we’re losing this awesome livery?!

Surely this topic is covered under the Alaska Fleet (and network) Thread?

Actually, N607AS ferried from PDX to VCV this morning, and yes it would seem it will be painted in the new AS livery. Let’s see when it comes out.

Actually, this topic started when the VX Airbuses were being rebranded into AS livery and continued on with updating the 737s to the new livery. Fleet additions and deletions are correctly discussed and tracked on the thread you shared as well as the AS Weebly site which tracks all things AS fleet.

It will be a standard livery.

I’m not surprised as it had the old Alaska font in the livery, but still sad to see it go! Thanks for the confirmation.

I believe N557AS is one of the last -800s in the old scheme.

What I see is that 23 aircraft still need to be repainted.

Regular paint schemes left to paint:
737-800: 7 (N557AS is in paint)
737-900ER: 5

Special Paint Schemes still with old typeface:
Q400: 7 - N400QX University of Idaho, N401QX Washington State University, N402QX University of Montana, N435QX University of Washington, N437QX Boise State University, N440QX Oregon State University
737-700: 1 - N607AS Timbers Plane - Currently being repainted, rumor that it's loosing its special paint.
737-800: 2 - N559AS Salmon Thirty Salmon II, N560AS Spirit of the Islands
737-900: 1 - N318AS Spirit of Disneyland II

Hopefully the remaining Qs will get painted soon as there are some paint jobs that need to be avoided on principle by some people :duck: :spin:

Believe I caught the last photo of her in the Timbers livery, after pushback in PDX for that repo to VCV... all the while hoping this wasn't going to be the case.

Interesting to see Alaska hasn't painted over the "eyebrow windows" above the cockpit like Southwest has.
Next flights:
March 14: Delta Air Lines DL1375, STL-SLC, Airbus A220-300
March 20: Southwest Airlines WN5412, SLC-STL, Boeing 737-700

607AS is back in SEA, now wearing the standard Alaska livery. It is still the oldest aircraft in Air Group

That’s not paint. You have to remove the windows and install a plug.

I’m curious about that, can you please elaborate? American appears to be doing the same thing on their 738 fleet. Are the plugs aluminum? Are they installed during A, B, C checks or when the aircraft is painted or a separate process?

I think I may have just found the kits:

And here’s the STC:

TBH, I'm not in the industry and I'm a geek who just reads a lot and that bit of knowledge pushed its way into my brain at some point. So where it came from I'm not sure.

That being said, I'ven't seen an instance on a commercial airliner where the window is painted, so I'd find it kinda odd.

I do know that Boeing deleted the eyebrow windows from 737s sometime during the Next Gen run, as the main reason for them existing is moot in today's industry. (They allowed a pilot to use a sextant.)

And a few more details on eyebrow windows: https://simpleflying.com/737-cockpit-eyebrow-windows/ apparently my sextant description above was wrong.

And a thread with more detail: viewtopic.php?t=757153

N474AS, a 737-900ER still in the previous Alaska livery, flew to VCV this past Monday after nearly a month at GSO. Is the aircraft in for repaint, or storage?

May be premature to ask, but have there been any rumors of a Oneworld livery? Any guesses on when we can expect to see one?

There will be two oneworld painted aircraft, as it is a requirement of being in the alliance to have a minimum percentage (3%?) of the fleet painted in it. I do not remember when they will roll out though

If it's 3%, 300 aircraft or so is what they own, so that would be nine or ten to be painted.

Well pre-pandemic, AA had 946 in its mainline fleet and only had 5 OW birds. That's a lot less than 3%

According to their financial results the mainline fleet sits at 197, plus the newest MAX so 198.

Can’t remember what the defined percentage is, only that it was stated in the oneworld branding guidelines or a similar public document
