One source said the schedule should start to update between 03:00-05:00 HERB. PN news wire press release around 06:00-08:00 Herb

High hopes I'm putting on the alarm,Coffee and will have my RR points and credit card ready.

Hopefully this Early Bird can get the worm.

For silky fun
July should have ONT,BUR,PDX-HNL and ITO-LAS added also.
Enjoy or Don't.
Flyguy

Are you hearing is ONT, BUR, PDX supposed to continue pass summer or are they just doing those routes in the summer ?

I would suspect that those would be year-round routes if announced.

At this point, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not going to get excited until it's officially announced.

Yes that’s what I’m thinking I would think they would be year round and I won’t get excited tell we see annoucment either we know with the flights starting early June that it has be announced... high hopes

My family lives in GUA, and I’m praying for the day that WN announces it. But that’s at least 5 years away but one can dream.

WN doesn't really seem to be chasing Latin American VFR markets. Remember, they pulled out of MEX. Right now they're focusing mainly on markets Americans want to vacation to.

If there's an airline building a presence in Latin America right now, it's B6. They've come into GUA, GYE, and GEO in the past two years.
Next flights:
Who knows? :/

Just got back from LAS. Quite a few Max's parked. Are they parked due to the grounding or do they not need them right now?

The FAA said the issue impacts 109 in-service planes worldwide.

Someone told me half of WNs MAX but I haven't verified that part.

That’s seems right because they should have enough to do the Hawaii expansion so I would assumed they have over 30 currently in service

The two WN MAXs that I at least know of that are parked in LAS are 8800 and 8808, neither of them are ETOPS or part of the ETOPS pegged MAXs in the WN fleet.

LAS-HNL 2x/OGG 2x

PHX-HNL 2x/OGG 1x

LGB-HNL increases from 1 to 2 daily

OAK-HNL increases from 2 to 3 daily/LIH 1 daily added

SJC-LIH 1x reinstated/KOA 1x reinstated/OGG increases from 1 to 2 daily

SMF-Hawaii remains as is

Interisland remains the same at 4x per market, except for 6 daily HNL-OGG and 1 daily OGG-KOA

In early June, SAN-HNL goes dbl-daily and SAN-OGG goes once daily; the date appears to be ~Jun 6.
In late June, SAN-OGG goes dbl-daily and SAN-KOA starts 4x weekly while SAN-LIH begins 3x weekly; start date might be 6/27? Total of 5 daily departures from SAN to Hawaii!

Great to see it finally happening! Promises kept by WN!

HNL 34 daily flights.
8 RON. With 5 of the 8 being ETOPS departures close together. That's a lot of preflight prep for just 4 gates out of HNL knowing that WN usually gives it's self easily 60 mins on originating ETOPS flights and 45 just for boarding.
Looks like they will need 2 extra gates a few times a day to run the schedule.

Enjoy or Don't

I've had a Chase RR CC for years never really used the point that much.
Plus I scored a 20% coupon code from a FA friend so it was the perfect storm.
But my FA friend booked her family of 7 a 4th of July vacation from LGB-HNL ended up paying just 89 dollars total out the door.

Definitely a lot of RR points being burned today.

Looks like PHX and LAS are the East Coast hubs to Hawaii. I've been able to do several dummy bookings from many cities in the East and all are routed via PHX and LAS. The schedules are very comfortable too, with 1 hour-ish connections.

Just curious what makes you say costs aren’t great. I see round trips for $559, which is much lower than the next lowest I see on Alaska for $818 which is a basic economy fare. Add in another $60 per bag and the SWA fare is quite good.

It may have just been the dates I checked. For example, CMH-HNL departing on Friday, July 23 and returning on Friday, July 30. The lowest outbound flight fare (connecting in LAS) is $468. The return fare (connecting in PHX) is $418. Total With taxes and fees: $885. About on par with UA ($850 - 2 stops) or AS ($913 - 1 stop).

It’s not that the prices are incredibly high just basically on par with everyone else. Again, other days/destinations may vary.

I use points every year for spring break trips (not HI though). N/S MSP-HNL on Delta is $900 per person, so WN is significantly cheaper but a much lengthier flight time.

Yeah LIH appears to have gotten both PHX and LAS now as well. Didn’t search for when - but they’re on the route tool

WN may have the most mainland capacity out of KOA and LIH before long if they actually fly these sorts of routes daily in the near future... crazy to see

Mike Van de Vin has already said they will have MAX7ETOPS and it will eventually be the perfect gage aircraft to not only fly longer mainland flights but would be the perfect for inter island flights.

The FAA has cleared the AD and Boeing can issue the fix ASAP.
AA is offering PHX HNL and OGG for about $70 more but it's on a 777.

We obviously not seeing adds for july? either way still lots new capacity

Ya I see that also.
Good mixture of NG and MAX Etops flying.
I'm wondering if the grounding for Wiring issues might be playing into the situation?

The FAA has cleared the AD and Boeing can issue the fix ASAP.
AA is offering PHX HNL and OGG for about $70 more but it's on a 777.

AA 777....with bag fees, with less legroom, less seat width, and more noise in economy than a WN 737 MAX.

Only worth it if you have status or sit in a premium seat IMO.

"In case you fell asleep last March and woke up realizing it is actually May 2021, like I did, you got up just in time because May is bringing some record-breaking growth in our Hawaii service! Ever since our service to the Hawaiian Islands began in 2019, it has been our vision to be Aloha strong in these beautiful destinations. We are so excited to share the details of this expansion, especially following the unprecedented challenges last year brought.

This monumental expansion brings our total gateways count up to eight, including the three new gateway cities added with daily nonstop service to Honolulu Oahu (HNL) and Kahului, Maui (OGG): Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), and Phoenix (PHX)! As you might have already guessed, these three gateways also result in greater network connectivity for more Stations in the central U.S. and stretching as far east as Nashville (BNA). For example, Customers in Nashville (BNA), Dallas (DAL), and Kansas City (MCI)–just to name a few–will now enjoy daily round trip service to Honolulu, Oahu (HNL) and Kahului, Maui (OGG). Although this growth marks a huge milestone for Southwest, we will continue to grow our network and connectivity to Hawaii as we see improved performance and demand. As a bonus, the Los Angeles (LAX) gateway means we are now offering round trip more nonstop flights to Honolulu, Oahu and Kahului, Maui, giving our fabulous Crew Members more efficient pairings to the Islands.

How much growth is there? We’re adding 21 daily round trips, from 16 to 37 daily round trips between the mainland to Hawaii. That is more than double our current capacity! The last time we had a quasi-comparable network growth as this was when we increased our service at Denver International Airport (DEN) in the late 2000s. While all of the opportunities taken to improve and grow our network are notable and important, we are thrilled for the opportunity to serve more Customers and remain competitive following this incredible milestone!

Southwest now will be ranked second for daily trips and third for daily seats in and out of Hawaii as we remain in close contention with other carriers serving Hawaii. Of course, we can’t ignore the fact that with the return of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 back on March 11, and our ETOPS application process with the FAA now complete, the vision to fly ETOPS-authorized MAX 8 aircraft on Hawaii routings is finally coming to fruition! With the upcoming addition of 50 MAX 8 ETOPS aircraft to our fleet of 28 737-800 ETOPS aircraft, Southwest Airlines has officially shaken up the competitive landscape; we will hold approximately 18% of all mainland to Hawaii seats in the industry!

Southwest has never been the kind of Company to just accept the status quo and we will continue down the path Gary laid out for us in his 2021 Battle Plan: Survive, Stabilize, Repair, and Prosper. Moreover, serving our Customers is what we do; in fact, Colleen Barrett said it best when she said, “We’re in the Customer Service business. We just happen to fly airplanes.” This is so true, even when it comes to building the Network, finding ways to drive revenue, and ultimately connect our “extended Family” to what matters most to them. Expanding our Hawaii network is one more way we get to serve our Customers while also ensuring Southwest continues to be their number one airline. All that to say, I hope to see y’all onboard some of these flights this summer–Paradise is waiting! Head to Southwest.com now to book your next trip and be sure to tell your friends and family!"

I just looked from Omaha, terrible times eastbound. You don't get back til midnight and have to be up at like 4am for your departing flight! Been to hawaii a ton, Eastbound to the midwest should leave Hawaii as late as possible is the best way to do it. 9pm-10pm flight, arrive mainland in morning....get on next flight back to midwest around noon or so. Then you don't waste an entire day traveling. If southwest wants to be competitive, they need to fix their flight times in my opinion.

LAX is so over saturated with Hawaii flights between 7 carriers 4 of whom also have wide body capacity. I thought for sure WN would have gone along the lines of their LGB strategy and added ONT and BUR for a triangle service before ever adding LAX.
717, 727-100, 727-200, 732, 733, 734, 735, 73G, 738, 739, 742, 748, 752, 753, 762, 763, 772, 77W, 787-10, DC9, MD80/88/90, DC10, 319, 220-300, 320, 321, 321n, 332, 333, CS100, CRJ200, Q400, E175, E190, ERJ145, EMB120

Every hub carrier at LAX needs to serve Hawaii, it's too big of a market not to serve it. The real surprise is it took this long.
