Judging by all of the ads I've been seeing, they are still working on shoring up business for some of their new markets. Some of them are struggling a bit, while others have blown up like a Christmas tree on fire.

I would imagine we see further adds to the new cities and more Hawaii frequency

or they just do an extension of the current schedule like last time they had an extension.

Not to stir the pot but with Breeze launching XNA, how much longer do we think WN will stay out of that market?

I'm very curious about XNA as well, as someone who has gone twice in the past year to mountain bike. Bentonville has exploded in population and stature in the cycling community. Even G4 is offering AUS-XNA flights this summer (2x/weekly, IIRC). Of course, knowing G4's not-historically-great mx/safety reputation, I'm skeptical about flying them...but they're doing the route.

Let's turn the question around. What routes XNA-xxx could WN operate to yield a station with 12+ flights a day? There's little demand to DEN, CHI, or WAS. 1X LAS, 1X DAL and 1X MCO doesn't justify a new station.

Well it would require some effort on WNs end too. They would need to sell EWR as a NYC airport, not NJ.

A lot the routes I chose are big for both O&D and connections, not long and thin routes like OAK.

WN opens stations these days with less than 12 flights per day. Not all traffic is Walmart/Tyson. People live there and people travel. I would hypothesize that LAS/DAL/MCO at 1x a day plus plugging XNA into DEN/MDW/PHX/STL/BNA/ATL (a stretch I admit) would justify a new station with the connections available at those stations. The frequencies would be lousy but the network reach would probably make XNA a cash positive station with some possibilities.

I'd love to see WN do more/whatever leisure (CUN, SJD, SJU, SXM, STT, AUA, SJO, LIR) out of EWR. NY/NJ residents would prefer nonstop service to leisure destinations. They'd have to add more island destinations and let's get S. America going already. High hopes, I know.

That would be nice but I doubt it. UA, B6, AA, and DL are already well established on those routes out of the city airports. IIRC Southwest being in NYC area (with the exception of ISP, they have a good following on LI) wasn’t really to get NY passengers places, it was/is to get people to NY.

If anything, I could see BWI MDW BNA STL and DEN coming back if they marketed EWR as NYC and not just NJ.

In 2019 XNA had 1.8M passengers through the airport. Could that support 9 flights, at an 80% load factor on a 143 seat plane that is 41% of their 2019 traffic.

I see your point there but there are people in the NWA area who drive to TUL just to fly WN. That traffic would improve with WN serving XNA. I see a LIT sized station with daily flights to DAL, HOU, STL or MDW and maybe a 3-5x weekly to LAS or DEN and TPA or MCO quite feasible for WN in this current environment. LIT supports several daily flights on WN with only 1,086,740 enplanements in 2019. Source: https://www.faa.gov/airports/planning_c ... ements.pdf

WN will fly the fewest flights they have flown from MSP in a handful of years. Down to a whopping 15 weekday departures, well below pre-pandemic levels nearly double that figure. Ouch. Exit strategy? I do get that it's a short time period and can be quite slow, other than the holidays...

BWI 3x daily, MCO 1x/week. That would have been an unheard-of new station schedule for WN back in the day.

Using 2019 numbers, SYR was the largest market without WN service in the contiguous 48 states.

SRQ adds CLE, LGA, AUS, DCA. up to 19 destinations in less than a year. Several Sat only go daily as well.

CMH pick ups AUS as well.

BLI looks to be onboard 11/7 to OAK and LAS. Not sure if it was already mentioned

COS-SAT is an interesting one. I know F9 flew it at one point but IIRC it was actually one of the worse performing routes for them out of their little COS experiment.

Well Sounds like political pressure and promises are playing out.
This morning Chatter has SYR starting in October with 3 BWI,2 MDW and 1 DEN.

BLI also in October sounds like 2 OAK, 1 LAS and 1 DEN.

Enjoy or Don't

Let’s get the EWR ball rolling next. ATL 2x, BNA 2x, DEN 2x, FLL 2x, MDW 4x, STL 2x: would all do great.

WN pulled out of EWR just 18 months ago due to poor financial results. Why would they do great now?

IIRC they had abysmal frequencies for one and then for two it wasnt really market as a NYC airport?

I wonder how fast we will see WN respond to AA in AUS...

ELP, IND, MCI, STL in particular...

They currently serve AUS-STL

And IND. It was Sunday only before the Beer Situation but it's either daily or near-daily now.

We didn’t have to wait long. Apparently they’ve just added CMH, HRL, PIT, and SRQ from AUS (along with other new routes).

Yes they already fly all of these daily, some multiple times a day.
