Can anyone confirm whether 3901 and 3902 received split scimitars when they were at DTW and ATL respectively for ViaSat installation last month? They were only there for 3 days each, so perhaps there wasn't enough time for that to be completed?

I've heard the SSW-less birds are getting them during checks throughout the rest of the year and not IFC visits.

I just heard the same today, and that the 171--178 ships that were slated to be retired will be getting heavy checks. I would assume they'd go ahead and put them through K mods.

Great news. Personally I hope we see them used a lot domestically (preferably to SEA :) )

Ship 171, which was originally slated to be retired, was put through a heavy check in early 2020. This high hour, low cycle ship has been on domestic duty since returning from maintenance, presumably to even out hours/cycles.

6816 is en route to QRO.
6815 showing exit tomorrow
187 arrived in SEA but the ferry to ICN is tomorrow
1810 is en route to ICN. Unsure if it'll continue on to CAN 9/16 or wait for 9/17 and 187's arrival. Tracking sites showing both segments at the moment.

172 getting paint is a vote of confidence that it's staying in the fleet longer term.

Bear in mind that's 1702, which is 8 years younger than 172.

I thought the 76Ls were all gone... Must have missed the decision to un-retire them. I assume DL won't want a 5-frame subfleet going forward?

That airplane was sold Tuesday, but placed in a trust. Likely a foreign leasing company.

Are you thinking of the 76Ts? IIRC they had the same config as the 76Ls. Those are indeed all gone and sold to be converted into cargo birds.

I agree that DL would not want a 5-frame subfleet going forward and they will also be converted to 76Z.

1. 76Ls do not have Premium Select and I can’t imagine a “high-J” aircraft without this class of service
2. A330s can easily take over the “high-J” routes the 76Ls run on.

The 76Ts were actually in a slightly lower config (208 seats, I believe) than the 76Ls. I knew the Ts were gone, but I thought DL had decided at some point to only keep the Zs, and that those would be retired by 2025. Maybe I incorrectly inferred that they had already gotten rid of the Ls.

The L's were all parked and supposedly not coming back, but as things have been so fluid, the 5 mentioned were reinstated. Wouldn't be surprised to see them get converted to Z or K config for commonality.

3762 is the the last 738 that was remaining parked, after tomorrow all 738s will be back in serie

3605 is a retired 73G. Interesting to see that on the move tomorrow to TPA, along with the 77E that went to CWF yesterday.
It interesting thought than 3605 is operating under a DL flight number DAL9937 SBD-TPA.

That’s interesting about 3762, I was guessing that the reason it was parked at BHM was parking until a spot was available at QRO for mx. Guess they either did what they needed to do at BHM, are planning to do it in ATL, or are going to burn a few more cycles/hours off before sending it south of the border.

Very exciting! Delta expects the first to be delivered in the first half of next year. I believe they will push for Q1. This is the first of 155 321NEOs. I can't wait to fly it! And yes, this will be Delta's first fleet with the new domestic first class seats. Very cool!

One of the reason that the A321 is preferable in my mind to the 739 involves the terrible aft configuration of the 739, where people line up for three lavs in the back and where some pax are forced to sit across from the lavs.

It's not clear what's new in that AVOD system. The hyperlink in your linked article goes to a 2019 piece - when DL first rolled out its own system. How is this different from the Delta Flight Products AVOD that's in A220s, for example?

I've heard the NEO will have a lavatory located between first and main cabin (comfort plus)- basically the same configuration as the United 900ER.

I'm hardly the resident PTV expert, but I'll point out the first 321NEO was initially scheduled for delivery in "late 2020," roughly two years after the first A220 was delivered. I doubt DL created a successor PTV system in such short time, and if they did, it'd be a software upgrade that would be introduced to the A220 as well. Thus, I'm pretty confident it's the same system...

A somewhat interesting PR piece about the feat of parking and reactivating the fleet was posted on the DL news site today.
The video has some cool footage from BHM, BYH, MZJ, VCV of the storage and reactivation process.

That was my thinking. It may not even be a new iteration of the A220 system. And if I'm a little too cynical I'm happy to have somebody correct me.

Does anyone know if there are any plans for any of the A321s or 739s will receive the Sky Team livery?

Flew my first flight on the 767 last week, N189DN. I believe it was one of the older 763ERs. Its paint looked pretty long in the tooth, any chance that this bird might get one more repaint?

Any chance of the widget making it onto the sharklets of the NEO? IIRC some of the initial renderings included that detail. I know it's currently standard on only A350s.

Might not be the correct thread for this question but does anyone know what Boeing is doing with those 2 ex-DL MD-90's? Rumors?

The rumor is that they will be a flying test-bed for a new elliptical wing design.
