There are I believe 7 -900s that do not have SSWs. The cut in for SSWs was N832DN, and there are 2 that below that cutoff that haven't gotten them.

In the case of the other 5 later models like you flew, there was a supplier issue that caused these ships to not receive them. These are aftermarket winglets, so they are installed after delivery. The plan is to eventually retrofit these frames with them later on this year.

I've got 8: 3828, 3830, and 3901-06 (unless any of these got the mod recently).

Delta A350 (N507DN) is currently enroute from DWC to FRA as DL8823. Any idea what is the purpose of the flight?

Is it carrying USA Dubai Expo 2020 entourage? The participating countries had their final meeting before the official launch on October 01.

I believe the 8000 series flight numbers are usually military or other charters while cargo-only flights are usually the 3000 series flight numbers.

It was a MAC charter on the way over, and it is was carrying cargo from FRA on the way back instead of just ferrying empty.

As for your question, IIRC there was something about wing strengthening I read about that negated the benefit of winglets. I could be wrong. Hope this helps somewhat.

Interesting. Delta has a number of 757 configurations, so I’m not surprised the benefits of winglets aren’t the same

Yeah they're out there. DL reconfigured them completely, and some which got taken out of storage got straight up new interiors but no winglets. Some are for the Sports Charter Configurations but they have some more Domestic Birds which fly with no winglets and reconfigured so you wouldn't notice. I think it's because they were planning on dumping some of the 1988-1990 frames and decided to keep them around but I really don't know if that's entirely sure. I know N569DL (Sky Team Livery with Winglets) from 1990 was planning on being retired and then didn't, I think? Either way, I love it despite the fact it takes so much time to get in and out of them because they crammed so many people on the Domestic 757s in the newer configuration.

Interestingly, the winglet-less 757s have the retrofitted, BSI-style interiors. Jeb Brooks posted a video recently of one such aircraft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdaYSYIOAbY

Sold to Delta Material Services, which usually means the last roundup.

The 777-232LRs were all sold. Who bought them?

Some entity called Mammoth, I'm not sure who they are. I believe they bought some of the ERs as well.

Glad to see that they remembered what happened when they traded in the original DL DC-9s for MD-11s (Valujet). How many of the ex-NW DC-9s ever flew for another operator?

Some of the non winglet 757 are not approved for winglets.

Structural repairs to the wing skin or interior can make the plane not approved for the mod. The winglet adds a lot of load to the wing. Yes, there is a lot of modification that takes place inside the wing as part of the package, but sometimes there is no economical way to overcome prior work. For the NBA fleet the new owners of the planes didn't want the winglets so they were removed and installed on other planes in the fleet.

I see. That's what I thought.

Keep in mind, the DL 757s in Charter configuration took over for the NW 319s in the same configurations which got switched out for regular flying. So there isn't a need for them to have Winglets.

The reason why certain 752s have not been fitted with winglets falls into a couple of categories / reasons:

1) Some were not fitted, due to the ROI of the cost of installation and payback period changed as the price of fuel dropped 5-6 years ago
2) A few have wing structure repairs that would not enable them to be fitted with the winglets
3) A sub-set of older frames were originally slated for retirement; but DL decided in 2016/17 to retire 10 of the early build A320s and retain 10 early build 757s instead
4) NBA charter fleet that are low utilization frames do not need them

Any pics of 1001? Assuming it now has a wifi dome that looks similar to the ones on AA A321s?

I don't have any pics of 1001, but I have seen it in the flesh. It looks just like the AA 321s, although it looks to me like DL's dome is a bit further forward than AA's.

You will be able to tell the difference in an IFC versus Gogo A321, as the IFC "hump" is substantially taller the Gogo dome, albeit in a smaller footprint.

1001 in the air! Expect 321 mod lines to begin soon.

Today:
663 MIA-QRO
3244 exit SAL and RTS
Another 717 exiting BHM: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL9936. Must be 9525 (N966AT) as it's the only non-retired 717 there.

Tomorrow:
DL9960 appears to be 8813, MZJ-SAL. Should be the PS mod prototype for 333s. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL ... /KMZJ/MSLP. It's also the last 333 stored at MZJ.

When is A321 ship#1009 scheduled to be delivered? It has been sitting in Toulouse for over a year.

Good question...she was actually first spotted on 14 September 2020, but hasn't had any recorded movements since!

I smell a future Hangar Queen.

Probably found something wrong with it in production.

This may or may not be relevant, but any idea if anyone will buy up the remaining ex-DL/NW 744s?

674 did indeed enter VQQ yesterday: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n674dl
698 exiting QRO this afternoon after a rather short visit and RTS tonight: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n698dl. Maybe it was a random thing and not a scheduled check?

Tomorrow:
Seeing a 738 ATL-QRO tomorrow morning, tail TBD: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL ... /KATL/MMQT. Perhaps an exit looming for 3719, which has been there since March 5th?
3304 exit SAL-ATL: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n804nw
3313 enter SAL from MZJ, PS mods: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n813nw
