Well the big news is that Dragonair head Algernon Yau moves over to become CEO of GBA effective January 4th.

Obviously, he brings good institutional and market knowledge from his career at the Cathay Group.

Can a 737-800 reach Harbin or Sapporo from Hong Kong with full load?

Greater Bay Airlines is preparing a fallback plan to start with cargo services first in late summer if pandemic conditions make passenger flights infeasible.

Greater Bay is set to take delivery of the first of three leased, secondhand Boeing 737-800 jets in mid-February, with additional deliveries due August and October.

About 90% of applicants for 500 open job positions are ex Cathay.

Should do, keep in mind that is the airline transport licensing authority which it a totally different process to obtaining an AOC from HKCAD.

14-day deadline for other airlines to file objections against GBA route license request has passed without an objection from Cathay Group.

Some old and new news......

> Applied for 104 routes back in January 2021
> 48 routes are to destinations in mainland China including major cities such as Beijing, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Shanghai
> Further 13 are to Japan and six are to Thailand, with Tokyo, Osaka and Bangkok
> Intend to serve Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
> Other countries such as Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Nepal and Singapore would receive one route each if the application is successful.
> Rights to the routes were made available after being relinquished by Cathay Dragon, which closed in October by Cathay Pacific.
> Before the pandemic, Cathay Dragon's network spanned more than 50 destinations in 15 countries and in excess of 1,100 weekly flights.

> First three aircraft (all used) B737-800 will arrive starting June (??)
> Initially operate cargo flights if passenger service remains unfeasible because of coronavirus
> Expects 30 B737-800s within the first five years with 300 staff
> Hopes to start flying by mid-2021
> Aims to expand to 2,500 to 3,000 staff by 2025

Per CEO Algernon Yao on LinkedIn the first class of 18 cabin crew began 4 weeks of training earlier this week. All are previously with other HK-based airlines including CX, KA, and HX.

Yes indeed, First batch of 18 cabin crew. 15 of them are ex KA, 2 from CX and one from HX. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/algernon ... 11360-xKTA

Also first batch of 9 pilot are now undergoing training at Miami. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/algernon ... 58688-tYug

They have several openings now: https://hk.jobsdb.com/hk/jobs/companies ... -limited/1

Seems like Algernon, the CEO has very good working relationship with many in the industry. Here is to wishing them all the best.

Oh dear, that's really unimaginative and bland...even although I like teal. Hong Kong has some of the big media advert regional HQ, not sure why they would save a few bucks for a better livery noting that GBA is planning to fill the void left vacant by Dragonair.

The airlines claim they're expected to receive operation certificate on September 17, and will fly a charter to Beijing on China's National Day on October 1 as the airlines' first flight, which is said to be symbolic of the airlines development.
Meanwhile, they claim "incumbent airlines" are trying to prevent or delay them from receiving operation license, as they claim the government ATLA authority keep repeatedly reminding them they need to follow the rules on Incorporated and Principal Place of Business and financial strength.

D-AAGB arrived in Hamburg yesterday just after 2pm. Didn't see where it went after landing, as we were already on board our BA flight and taxiing out to take-off.

You know at first I did not get this, I thought someone posted the wrong photo. Talk about a blast from the past.

Back to the topic, the livery is really not very inspired or inspiring unfortunately.
