Summer of 2019 not only was AA maxing out both A East and A West they were using those dreadful "mobile boarding lounges" for remote boarding. As others have mentioned on this thread PHL was supposed to become a major 787 base. Reading the tea leaves: while Raja says they're expecting summer 2022 to go gangbusters TA, like so many things in life, especially in our present collective moment I don't think we can count on much of anything. Personally I have family I haven't seen in sometime so I know I'll be on at least a few of flights across the pond as work allows beginning next year.GSP psgr wrote:b) On an even more grand scale, a complete replacement of A East, B, C, and D with a newer and more modern facilities? Here is just one of the many ideas that have been bandied about on what to do with PHL from back in 2010. Without a significant AA commitment (in dollars) PHL doesn't have the need for such robust Int'l facilities. Just ask PIT and the Allegheny County tax payers about their facility for AA's predecessor. Dougie oversaw that drawdown of US is memory serves....

I don't think that eastern terminal is going to ever happen because the land there is owned by other business. They could build on the economy lot but that would require a rebuild of all the taxiways.
I guess it all depends if AA wants to grow PHL or JFK. There is no way they can focus on two airports at the same time for TATL growth.

i believe only IAD and PHL are the approved entry points.

Was there a reason that those two entry points were picked? PHL used to be the MAC entry/exit point, before it was moved to BWI, so military charters are nothign new to them. I am just curious as to how these two entry points were chosen.

It looks like the flight is operating again. I had not seen foreign carriers operating refugee flights into PHL

Considering there are no XLRs until summer 23, I can't imagine anything too special. I would hope for DBV to resurface but also worried that they might transfer some more niche routes to JFK with the B6 alignment. Should we expect any route releases soon? Seems awfully quiet for AA recently ex-PHL, and really across the board except for Austin. Yawn.

There are some more domestic adds that AA could make out of PHL such as PHL-ABQ/ELP/OKC/OMA/PDX/SMF/TUS.
AA can also operate PHL-OKC/OMA nonstop service using regional jets since both of these routes are within the range of regional jets.

Can both UPS and FedEx expand to larger operations? I'm that LH does not run 1x daily given they are 5th for tons of freight traffic through PHL.
I doubt AA is going to announce anything big for summer 22.
AS, DL and UA is more or less going to stay the same.
B6 will keep a small operation here.
Maybe NK is going to try a new route for the winner flights.
F9 I don't see them trying a new route anytime soon maybe more frequencies

If Turkish Air was to start a new service, I would think it's not anytime soon not because of covid. I think its about developing the Philadelphia market and performing some studies. I would think we might hear something next year. Though this article did come from simpleflying, still exciting though.

SmartWings is now scheduled to arrive at around 1330 today if anyone wants to do any spotting. It will RON and depart early Friday morning, so no chance for pics on departure.

16.25-19.30 (old schedule was ex DUB 13.00)
PHL-DUB
21.00-08.45 (old schedule was ex PHL 17.30)
Much more limited connections at DUB under this schedule.

Meanwhile that means both AA and EI will depart PHL 5 minutes from each other. SMH. Expand the window a bit if the plan will be to together under OW.
