My mind is blown at some of the capacity airlines have been throwing at Miami lately. Copa Airlines is now operating nine flights a day to Panama City! On top of the daily to Fort Lauderdale.

Viva Colombia is flying as many as four flights to Medellin on some days!

It's nuts. None of that existed pre-COVID. No wonder traffic has pretty much fully recovered.

Outstanding!

Everything is looking very good and only getting better as the months pass by. I didn’t expect this at all.

NK entering MIA with 30 routes in October! Yes 30-routes not flights.

Wow really good news for future growth at MIA. I can’t wait till international travel recovers and we get some new TransPac routes announced.

I wonder what American will do. NK’s going head to head with AA on some of these routes. Whatever happens this has been one MIA’s best years for new airlines.

Definitely one of the best years for sure and during a pandemic. Wild.

I expect Delta to follow through with their planned MIA expansion as well as seeing Alaska announce resumption of service to MIA.

I'm hearing Alaska is coming - daily to Seattle and Los Angeles. I'm also hearing Royal Air Maroc is coming back, too. And Neos to Milan.

And yes I think we will see Delta move forward with some smaller scale expansion - I'm guessing the delayed Orlando and Tampa flights, resuming Havana, and adding LA and Seattle. I've also heard Delta is seriously considering MIA-GRU/EZE but I think that's a longer term thing, depending how their LATAM alliance shapes up.

From Southwest I've heard they're going to move Havana over to Miami once Cuba opens back up (each airline is only allowed one flights a week at the moment).

jetBlue I've heard is going to add San Juan soon, possibly others I'd guess, but SJU is pretty much a sure thing.

I’m still at a loss as to where all these new flights will fit. This is an exciting time for MIA.

Well B6 and AS (if they come) would problably be in E close to AA. All other domestic airlines except NK and F9 can stay in H. NK and F9 can split a terminal (probably G or F, im not to much of an expert on MIA's gate layout)

I suspect AA will announce something tomorrow in response to Spirit. Some of it could be stuff that was already in works, but they’ll want to announce it more quickly,

There is less of a need for AS to add LAX-MIA nonstop service with
(a) AA having hubs at both LAX and MIA,
(b) AA already having multiple daily nonstop flights between LAX and MIA,
(c) AA already having a significant FF base in both LAX and MIA, and
(d) AA already serving (on AA mainline and/or American Eagle) all the markets that AS serves nonstop from LAX.

Of the AA hub airports that both AA and AS serve nonstop from LAX, AS inherited LAX-ORD/JFK through the AS-VX merger and both AA and AS operate LAX-DCA nonstop service due to beyond-perimeter slot exemptions that both AA and AS hold at DCA.

AA and AS both serve the DFW/DAL market nonstop from LAX, but AA serves its DFW hub nonstop from LAX and AS serves DAL nonstop from LAX (which AS inherited through the AS-VX merger).

On the other hand, it likely makes sense for AS to re-add SEA-MIA nonstop service as
(a) there are some AS FF's in Washington State and Alaska who prefer an AS-operated flight over an AA-operated flight,
(b) AS has nonstop service out of SEA to some destinations in Washington State and Alaska that aren't served by AA, and
(c) AS would be offering connections onto AA flights out of MIA to destinations in Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean if AS re-adds SEA-MIA nonstop service.

Unfortuantely it is the opposite. SAA has always had this authority. US DOT has suspended it, because South African officials are not allowing Delta into Cape Town.

Air France increasing service from 7w to 12w effective November 1st.

American Eagle launching Saturday service to Tulsa November 6th (this for years was operated on Saturdays with a 738 until around 2016 or so).

I expect we are going to see a significant expansion of domestic flying on AA this winter to many new points, mix of daily and Saturday flights.

I think in June 2021 MIA's traffic will already have exceeded June 2019. What a recovery!

SAS will add additional Miami flights for the Christmas break between December 23rd and January 10th. T

This winter's schedule (outbound from Miami) will have Copenhagen on MoWeSa, Stockholm TuFrSu and Oslo on Th. During Christmas break select days will see two flights to a pair of cities instead of the usual one.

It'll be interesting to see if AA is able to sustain more lift on MIA-SEA. I have always been surprised that the South Florida-SEA market is not at least 5-6 x daily, year round with seasonal upticks to 6-7 daily.

What are the chances AF makes CDG-MIA double daily, year round?
