It was not heavy at all going to AUS. Although they said going back to HNL was much higher. There were about 10 completely empty rows in economy.

This is actually a pretty useful route addition for me as I have family 4 hours South of Monterrey without any good air service. Beats driving to San Antonio, although I imagine the cost will be a little bit pricier out of AUS than out of SAT. We'll see.

Ugh...thanks for bring this up, freerover. I tried some random dates in late June, July and August on their website and was not able to come up with any available flights to either MTY or MEX.

Thinking of AM I went to their site and tried to book a random trip to MEX on 1 July, the date that AUS's website says the service is supposed to resume. Alas, no nonstops on AM to MEX, either.

Viva can't start new US routes until Mexico's AFAC is back to category 1. The FAA downgraded Mexico's civil aviation authority to category 2 at the end of May.

I’m booked on AM in August - hasn’t been affected as far I can tell.

Austin has a LOT of tech money going in. Many, many thousands of affluent tech workers. Workers who can easily plunk down for a Hawaii vacation. Mind you, telecommuting also allows _remote working from Hawaii_ while remaining on US soil. And the timezone is favorable, you just wake up early and log in at 5-6am.

Hawaiian will do absolutely great on this route.

Yea but they still have not announced the flights were canceled yet. Are the awaiting for a ruling about them?

I'd forgotten about that short-lived service. And TBH I'd forgotten about AA's TUL service...you're right, that makes it even more interesting.

I ask as I was looking for tickets yesterday and LH was available as well (3/4w A330), only for it to be gone today. I know that schedules are extremely volatile but I would like to take as low a risk as possible.

The UK isn’t looking good - the next announcement from UK government on whether they’ll open up is supposedly July 19 (and even then, if you’re connecting via LHR to a third destination, you’ll want to check how UK arrivals are treated).

I’d expect to see LH back in AUS first at the rate things are going with the EU - but you might want to book via IAH to be on the safe side (LH 440/441 have resumed, if they were ever suspended).
