Yup, for customs. Same reason why Lufthansa 744s stopped at BOS/LAX, KLM 744s used ORD, Qantas 744s used LAX, etc.

ANA used to use ANC but recently switched to HNL. Not sure why.

Yes it is the first flight, they have had an ATI 767 there for about 3 weeks doing training for the ground crews.

Checked again today - there's one Interjet A321 at the SW corner of the field, and three Airbuses (two A320s and one I didn't identify) on the north flight line. But I also spotted a fifth Interjet Airbus inside one of the hangars at Threshold Aviation at the SE corner of the airport - potentially being worked on?

I wonder if it had pressurization issues? They flew pretty low, not getting too much above 15K ft. MSL (about the minimum needed to clear the Rockies), air speed was erratic for a spell, too. They diverted to PUB and are scheduled to continue to MCI later today.

JetMidwest is one of the only places in the word that will do 727 D and C checks. I believe it’s for MX but I would have to ask.

Yup, think there have been a couple of A321s that went back to LATAM, N891QW is another A321 that flew to VCV and then flew out to LATAM a few months later. I think the MEX stop is a fuel stop...? Not a 1005 sure though, I know they've used PTY as a fuel stop before...to be honest I don't track them after they leave VCV. After they're outta SoCal they're not my 'responsibility' anymore, especially the smaller jets :lol:

A nice over flight video of SBD by Sam Chui on Instagram, note that Qantas 744 VH-OEF has been moved to the terminal, the new Amazon facility at the far north-east corner, and the group of Norwegian 789s in the far southern corner. Also surprising is the lack of aircraft in front of the two Unical hangars, only a Korean 744 and an Etihad 77L when there used to be 5+ aircraft crammed in that tiny space.
