Yes, I was just at ONT yesterday and most of them are gone compared to when I was last by there in November. I didn't really count them but I believe there are only about 7 or 8 left.

Looks like Lufthansa NTU 747-8i N828BA has finally found a new home: “Boeing also found a home for its last unclaimed 747-8 jumbo, lining up a VIP buyer for a passenger jet built years ago that had languished in storage.”

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... n-pandemic

Will be very interesting to see who bought it and when it will fly out.....I’m looking at arranging a potential trip out to VCV this weekend to just scout out all of the new developments.

United 767-300ER N664UA filed HNL-VCV 9:45AM - 6:01PM as UA2731 for repaint (?) on Monday, March 15.
https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N66 ... /PHNL/KVCV

VCV Overview (March 13):
It feels like 787 town with over 40 brand new 787s in storage. Was lucky enough to see Air Premia 789 HL8389 do an engine test as well. With Southwest 737MAXs slowly going down in number, they're starting to park 787s in the remaining space (the tail above is Juneyao 789 B-20EC). Three 787s are in that area: Norwegian 789 LN-LNL (lease return, it gets moved around as needed to fit aircraft in/out of the paint hangar), Air Europa 789 EC-NGR, and Juneyao 789 B-20EC.

United 777-200 N791UA is now in the EvoBlue livery with the pitot tubes and other various openings covered up. Surprisingly, there are no engine or window covers. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to it. She's parked next to all of the 737MAXs near the tower, but it's impossible to get an obstruction-free shot because of how packed VCV is at the moment. Surinam Airlines 772 PZ-TCU is in front of N791UA (also impossible to get an obstruction-free shot). One of the NTU Hainan 789s is in the Boeing hangar, while the open ramp space near it has some Delta aircraft and FAM 737-800 3528 (in storage, openings/pitot tubes and the like all taped up).

The GE hangar has 6 737MAXs: Oman Air (A4O-SO), T'Way (now NTU all white, HL8355), Sun Express Deutschland (D-ASMA), Korean Air (HL8349), Air Europa (EC-NBV), FlyDubai (A6-FMN).

Finally, no activity around Boeing 748i N828BA and she's still taped up, so it looks like the VIP isn't in a rush to take delivery of her. Everything else is pretty much the same (although obviously more aircraft continue trickling in as time passes, there is a noticeable increase in Air Canada aircraft but they're parked on the runway so it'll be difficult to get a shot of them without heat haze).

VCVSpotter ... interesting I paid a visit to VIctorville last Saturday and got a ramp tour of all the aircraft you mentioned close up. First time I was able to see such a remarkable site from inside the fence! It did not dawn on me that the ECO 777 parked next to the JAL 787 was a United 777? Is that a different 777 then the Boeing ECO demonstrator that I saw at Victorville last April a year ago parked at the Boeing hangar? They both have the same colors..

Wow, that’s super cool that you got a ramp tour! Umm idk who told you that it was a United 777 because the only EcoDemonstrator 772 at VCV is N772ET, ex B-2068 of Air China. It is not a different one from the aircraft you saw last April, Boeing only painted one EcoDemonstrator 777 in the ‘house livery.’ Also I believe you meant to say JAL 777 not 787, as there are currently no JAL 787s (to my knowledge at least) stored at VCV.

Likely military cargo that they didn’t want to ship on the road between RIV and SBD. The stop at SBD could be for customs...?? Not sure if I’ve seen any international arrivals into RIV. Either that or they had cargo fly into SBD, reposition, and then fly military stuff back to Europe.

Thanks to aristoenigma, I went back and compared photos of LH 748 N828BA (from November 2020 vs March 13, 2021) at VCV to see if there were any changes after Boeing had announced that they secured a customer for that airframe. Here’s what I found:

Various small engine panels on the cowling as well as the pylon (not the cowling itself) were taped up, that tape has been removed.

The foil around the landing gear and gear doors has been removed.

The foil on the cockpit windows has been removed.

The tape sealing the L1 door has been removed.

She still has seals on the rest of her doors and some foil on the left side of the tail, so I would say that departure is still a couple weeks away, but there is some activity.

EVA Air Cargo 747-400F was also at the ASB Avionics hangar. In the last few weeks, she had her landing gear replaced with a brand new set and was towed from the scrapyard to the ASB Avionics hangar. Soon, she’ll have a full interior and exterior cleaning as well as new flaps, tail hydraulics, engine pylons, and four GE CF6 engines. Shortly after, she’ll be re-registered as N27063 in preparation for her new owner (currently unknown) before flying out of MHV after nearly 4 years of storage!

Outstanding photos and information. Thanks for putting all that together! Amazing to see these giants return to the air after a long time in service. It's as if the Lord himself walks up to this slumbering giant thought to be dead and says LEVIATHIAN RISE.

So in a short time we have the possibility of seeing 3 thought dead 747Fs leave MHV for the world's skies once again.

I see that B-16402 is being reactivated, but what are the 2 other thought dead 747F at MHV?

Her rise starts with D-ABVP's demise (idk seemed poetic to sleep-deprived me). Looks like she (D-ABVP) still has some 'activity' (if you can call parts stripping that), her transponder pinged on today. Nice to have an indicator that work is 100% underway to have B-16402 back in the skies soon.

Well played sir, well played. In the cargo thread, I mentioned the possibility of the ex-LH 747s serving as resurrection bodies for additional stored 747-400Fs. You will be perfectly positioned to see that play out if it occurs.

How many Southwest MAX’s and/or Delta planes are stored at VCV? I know Delta had a bunch there last year around this time, but have been slowly taking them out since. Was just curious

Don't have exact numbers, but Southwest still has around 15 737MAXs at VCV and Delta has around 50 aircraft still stored at VCV. Both are guesstimates, but the Southwest # should be pretty close.
