Not sure if this is posted before, apology if it was.

Atlas Air B747-443 N481MC has landed in TPE from MZJ via LAX for induction check and repainting on 10th - 11th May 2021.

The, since Feb 2012 at VCV stored, 747-409F, B-18702, seems finally to be activated again, some movement was observed at May 14th, see : https://www.radarbox.com/data/registration/B-18702
Can anybody confirm this (small) movement ?

Generally those ‘movements’ are just transponder errors, especially with the CI 744F. I won’t believe a movement with those aircraft unless ADSB has a clear track following the taxiway across like half the airport or if there’s a photo of it at X location.

United A319 N882UA filed SFO-VCV 1:30PM - 2:48PM as UA2721 for repaint into EvoBlue livery.

United A320 N426UA filed VCV-DEN 3:45PM - 6:45PM as UA2742. Initially thought this was repaint but it stayed for one day..?!?! Guess some special charter (probably military) on DEN-VCV-DEN.

Do these long term stored aircraft routinely squawk every now and then to "check it still works" ?? Or is any activity indicative of possible resuscitation to "life".
Can you even do that with just ground power or do you need at least APU power???

It's an annoying answer, but it just 'depends.' It depends on the condition (a stripped out plane with no guts left will generally not squawk ever again), or if the owner wants to keep it in a certain condition while it's stored (for example, the Qantas A380s that can generally be seen on radar nearly every day in the mornings). Sometimes, it's because they're 'coming back to life' (but that's a rare occurrence). If it's a recent retirement, they'll need power to do some general things related to the decommissioning process, possibly adjust flaps, etc. There's a whole variety of things that could cause them to pop up on radar.

They can use ground power for it and they'll generally only run off APU if they're testing it before it flies out (very) soon, or if it's a recent installation or something like that and they need to check the APU specifically.

Interesting to see one of those Skyworks A321 that were supposed to be auctioned going back to LATAM. It stops at MEX for maintenance?

Yup, think there have been a couple of A321s that went back to LATAM, N891QW is another A321 that flew to VCV and then flew out to LATAM a few months later. I think the MEX stop is a fuel stop...?

MEX stop is for planes going directly to Mexicana's MRO which is still working and they do all type of mx and conversions.

They can service:

A318-19-20-21/NEO's and A330s, B717, 727, 737-200/300/400/500/600/700/800/900, B757/767, B777 & B787
CL600 and Fokker 100.

Does any know what will occur with this old gal?

Before, she was supposed to fly SBD-MCI-KEF-Europe (I assume for a new customer). Given that she's just hopping SBD-MCI I today, I could see either scrap or further maintenance. What's strange is that both of those can be done at SBD....so not entirely sure.

She did actually make it to KEF last week and stopped. Maybe heading onward to Europe and then... Africa? Can't imagine anyone in Europe would want an such an old, loud, and dirty dame :-)

Given that FedEx MD-10-10F N383FE retired to VCV on Thursday and N550FE flew in today, I wouldn't be surprised if their last MD-10-10F, N562FE, flew in next week. N562FE is also the last operational MD-10-10 in the world.

Keep an eye on Omega's DC-10-30CF N264DE as well, was supposed to fly in on Friday but cancelled, it's another one that could come next week.

XC-MEX landed at VCV for maintenance at the Boeing hangar, should be ferried back to Mexico by late June prior to taking the Mexican Olympics Team to Tokyo in July.

I thought the Mexican AF 787 was being sold as the New Mexican President didn’t want it?

No one wants it so Mexico’s just stuck with it.

Looks like Qantas A380's many be activated soon ? This article notes that there are literally 'snakes on a plane' in their dessert parking sites, mainly crawling in to the wheel and brake areas of parked planes. A special tool is used to go after the snakes and other critters, a certified broom handle. The article also notes some highlights of the process to return parked planes to service. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/qant ... index.html

Nah, that’s just occasional maintenance that they’ve been doing for months. It’s just that the wheel wackers have made some fame for themselves since Qantas tweeted about them yesterday. VH-OQC and VH-OQE have/will fly out, but Qantas is definitely not rushing to get every jet in the air and into immediate service.

Hey VCVSpotter, are you saying OQE will fly out? If so do you know when?
