Thank you for the info! The next flight is already under way.

So where is one of these going to park?

IMHO it's got to be computer chips - auto/truck/ even Caterpillar assembly lines are shutting down world wide due to the shortage. Is some manufacturer in the Scandinavia making these thing? I thought they were all made in Taiwan.
Maybe Toyota found a secret stash.

If they are computer chips they're the largest and heaviest chips ever manufactured.

We've talked at length about the causes for our drop, I'm not too interested in rehashing that conversation, at this point we need to look to the future.
The ACAA has made nice additions in cargo, hopefully this momentum can continue into the foreseeable future. On the passenger side, despite our numbers, we've landed UA point to point flights and it looks like we are going to get Breeze.
Looking forward, with vaccinations readily available, I'm interested in tracking the summer numbers. I think we will continue to lag our peer markets as my gut tells me our big companies will be more conservative from a return to office/travel standpoint.

Hopefully, the much needed terminal revamp will get underway and stay on track.

Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, said Monday she expects the nonstop to Heathrow Airport to resume in the spring of 2022 — two years after it was halted.
Ms. Cassotis said during a virtual appearance sponsored by the Pittsburgh Technology Council that there had been talk that the flight could return this summer.
While she noted she would have welcomed that, she added that “we can’t have them come back and not succeed.” As a result, the airport is now looking to next spring for the return.

I will believe this when i see it.... With the UK throwing around the idea of Vaccine passports, etc, I really don't see this coming back.
ConcourseZ wrote:Why would you think it's not coming back when BA announced that it is? There could be some more adjustments to the schedule as Covid is a fluid situation and the target date gets pushed back but it would not be wise to announce the return if there was not some certainty with it. If it doesn't, it would likely be because of some unforeseen event.
Let's start booking flights and raise a pint!

Too many "could be's", "there had been talks" (amongst who btw... an unrelated council; this A.net thread?), "anticipates", and "expects" in that article. It is identical to at least two other times when we've heard the same as Covid was ramping up.
OTOH I think too many people in the other city threads put too much stock in the fact BA did not put PIT in their schedule this summer while they did in other mid size cities. Those other cities' BA schedules were as useless as a Southwest Airlines schedule more than a month out.
Wake me up when BA signs a long term terminal lease at PIT.

Absolutely agree. I'll bet a dollar that BA does not return, and with good reason as stated ad-nauseum in the past...

Flaps wrote:[Flights were loaded for a Spring 2021 return. When government restrictions were not lifted/relaxed when expected they were again removed. BA has drastically reduced ALL US operations due to the restrictions in its home market and the drastically reduced level of business travel. BA's PIT loads were a pretty even mix of business and leisure. The front cabins had pretty good loads of both types. Their return has nothing to do with PIT itself but everything thing to do with the global travel situation. In this instance Cassiotis is not just blowing smoke. The current plan is to resume service in the spring of 2022. That certainly isn't a guarantee, as with everything it is entirely dependent on market conditions at the time.

"Amazon Air Launches Daily Cargo Service at Pittsburgh International Airport
Amazon Air touched down at Pittsburgh International Airport for the first time Wednesday night, adding Pittsburgh to its expanding U.S. cargo network.
Amazon Air packages will arrive once daily into Pittsburgh via a Boeing 737-800F freighter. The first departure from PIT, packed with cargo, will leave Thursday morning.
It is the latest—and biggest—cargo win for the airport.
“We are excited that Amazon is continuing its investment in the region with the addition of Amazon Air operations at our airport,” said Pittsburgh International Airport CEO Christina Cassotis. “We welcome Amazon Air and look forward to building our partnership. This announcement is a major milestone in positioning PIT as an international logistics center.”
Amazon Air has grown quickly to increase speed and selection for customers around the country, now flying to more than 40 U.S. airports. Its new operation at PIT will allow the company to serve a growing logistics network in Western Pennsylvania.
“Growing the network of sites where Amazon Air flies is essential to supporting fast, free shipping for our customers,” said Chris Preston, Director, Amazon Gateway Operations. “Today, with Pittsburgh International Airport as part of our Amazon Air network, we are closer to our customers and can support fast shipping for the items they rely on. We are proud of the investments Amazon has made in the Pittsburgh region and look forward to continued growth.”
Through a partner lease agreement, Amazon Air will use 50,000 square feet of space at PIT. The facility will include an onsite area to sort packages bound for their next destination and will be managed by an Amazon logistics partner, Trego-Duncan Aviation. The site is expected to support more than 50 jobs."
Looks like they will be using Cargo A?
Of note, 50,000 sq. ft and 50 employees is a lot for one daily 737.... me thinks Amazon will be adding quite a bit more flights.
Outbound flight will be to Ft. Worth Alliance AFW.

It's amazing how quiet the ACAA keeps these things.
