I’ve been busy on some other things lately, but I did just notice that N782TW of Ameristar left BYH on November 5th and is back on the auto parts circuit now. N785TW is back at BYH and has been there for two weeks. 783 and 785 have been repainted, and I’m not sure about 782 and 784. Very unlikely that 782 has, given how long it was at BYH and when they stared repainting the fleet.

Also, Frontera Flight Holdings acquired N915CK, N916CK, and N917CK, former Kalitta Charters II DC-9s, all stored at Oscoda since late 2019. We’ll see if they’re just for parts, or if they’re going to get back into the air

Excellent, thank you. I would only add the mad dogs. N833US-N837US

Ah, yes! Knew I was missing something on that one. Have the USA Jet ones on a separate list and forgot to add that to this one.

I'm guessing they're pulling from planespotters, which has never really had their ducks in order when it comes to the Aeronaves fleet. They are right in the sense that Aeronaves has, on property, 4 737-400s and 1 737-300s that have cargo doors. Of these, the registrations are N328SP, N16AQ, N529TP, N73FF, and N102FF. N102FF was the only one that was not converted before Frontera purchased it, and it was delivered to SLW from DHN in October. None are in service for Aeronaves at the moment, and most do not even have new Mexican registrations yet.

Regarding the MDs, they have none that are in conversion at the moment. I'm guessing that they're pulling the number of three on order from planespotters, which lists 3 future MDs. However, these three are ex-AA MDs that are all for parts. N457AA at ROW for ten years, N493AA for five years, and N510AM at SLW for five years. Frontera has purchased, over the last 5-10 years, upwards of 20 ex-AA MDs, most of which are still at ROW, for parts. I doubt that many of these will be converted, if any

The DC-9s are a bit more mysterious. They've purchased a bunch of those as well, but I doubt any will be converted. A few are on property at SLW. These three ex-Kalitta II DC-9s only make me ask more questions about their future DC-9 plans.

I've got 13 767s as of end of September; wondering if you can tell me what I'm missing. I think I need two, but maybe there are more.

N399AN (finished conversion at TLV 10/1, and went into service later, so I think it counts in the 15). Now G-DHLC.
N398AN (was at TLV until 10/26). To be N257AZ.
N397AN (still at TLV). To be N251AZ.
N396AN (still at TLV).
N391CM (was JA606A from ANA). FADEC engines. (still at TLV)
N390CM (was JA604A from ANA). FADEC engines. (still at TLV)
N203CM (was C-GSCA). (at ILN 7/15-10/23/21, now at TLV)
N152DL (at ILN since 6/26/21)
N154DL (at ILN since 9/18/21)
N900UD (at ILN since 9/5/21) PW4060s.
N898CU (bought 7/1/21; at ILN since 10/7/21) PW4060s
N155DL (at MZJ)
N156DL (at SBD)

Thanks in advance!!

The 14th and 15th B767 could be C-FPCA and C-FTCA, which are in conversion at TLV according to planespotters.net. I assume that these are the 2 B767s that are part of the conversion and sale and leaseback deal between Air Canada and CAM, see https://www.aircargonews.net/airlines/a ... air-cargo/, and keep their Canadian registration because of this.

Are we sure 756CA is actually repairable?

She’s sustained some pretty substantial damage around some major structural components.

Also the logistics of the repair need to be taken into consideration given its relatively remote location in Jordan.

We don’t know if the damage is any more than cosmetic. If it’s like her sister ship earlier this year, watch for a ferry flight to Hahn for repairs.

Previously mentioned (can't see the posts now) news about China CAAC's ban on P2F operations to/within the country should be clarified to mean a ban on cargo in pax cabin/pfreighter operations. Effective January 1, 2022 such operations will be limited to the transport of medical supplies only.

Source link (in Chinese) including costrast of the policy with EASA's decision to continue permitting the practice until July 31, 2022: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/JkjSEk90MPKZNMSqZ92_mQ

wJcandee,
Mods usually interfere little in this thread, as “we” keep it very clean if you like, but I guess as no one could provide a link the the Chinese news re: cabin cargo ops, I guess they pulled the previous posts.
Thanks to Sean for providing a link.

Agreed. It wasn't a criticism of the mods. Given that the info turned out to be a misunderstanding, I have no issue with them cleaning that up.

N756CA, the National 747 that got damaged at Muwaffaq Air Base in Jordan about a month ago, is now in the air again! She's about to cross the German border heading north-west.

Nice! She's descending near the German/Lux border, I'm thinking this was the Hahn flight for further mx.

Looking at Flightaware, it also looks like Kalitta is readying for peak. N745CK tagged home at OSC for about 36 hours before heading back to DHL duty. N709CK spent 5 days at OSC before heading off on a LAX-JFK roundtrip, and N782CK is up for the first time in a while on a shakedown flight out of Oscoda.

Looks like they have had quite a few 744s tag home base over the last week getting some TLC. Western Global should be taking notes.

Also quick note on the FAA SDR if you're looking for hours/cycles: They updated it. Slightly different look, easier to read, and the reports are now in chronological order! No more hunting through all in a date range for the most recent!

You are truly an optimist, my friend! Many have sat there endlessly over the last few months! :D :D :D

But I'm just teasing. The one that is there right now, and has been for 9 days, is N546JN. Which is a little weird, since it had months of heavy maint at SHV, emerging in like August.

If you mean the one that several months ago was there for even longer than that, I can look back at my WGN walls of shame earlier in this thread.

In the meantime, N415JN did a flight ICN-ICN today. Looks like maybe a shakeout flight after being there 2 days, just from the profile. Maybe not an air return.

I wonder if WGN have positioned an aircraft as an operational spare at ANC for a period of time? It looks like they have picked up some peak work for Brown, with both N415JN and N512JN doing some ops between SZX & SDF over the past week. It's speculation only, but if I were Brown I'd be asking WGN for some fairly concrete operational reliability metrics, and a redundancy like a spare machine at the halfway point might play a part in achieving that.

I've seen N781SN with all engines in situ and being towed around the ramp, so she might not be far away from joining her SHV colleagues. 747s 356 & 452 remain there under some sort of work. Surprised as they are at risk of missing peak.

I was thrilled with the report of 756CA being alive and ferrying to HHN, awesome. National have swapped out 936 from Brown duty over the weekend, replaced by 952. A couple of their machines were at SIN & KUL earlier this morning, which is new, and interesting.

ANOTHER OPTIMIST! I just love how participants in this thread are such positive people. Seriously. Makes my heart warm. I think your thoughts on this are excellent and well-reasoned. And if this were, say, ATI or GTI, I might say, "That's an interesting possibility!" But it's WGN, so, if I were a betting man, I would bet that she was broken. But we'll see!!

Cool! Maybe we'll get lucky and see her fly soon!

Given that 452SN has just been renovated at a top MRO shop, hopefully it's just a matter of getting the paperwork in order and such and she'll be out soon. 356KD, we'll just have to see.

Good catches, all! And here's hoping that 756 will be back on the line, soon.

Also, speaking of National, if you haven't seen Sam Chui's (I know...) video of the National relief-supply mission he flew on this summer, it's pretty-spectacular. Flying into Kathmandu, Nepal, in a 747 (in this case N919CA) loaded with cargo is pretty-amazing. I wish he had given us more AirClips-style video of the approach, because it's incredible. Mountains all around, a 5.31-degree descent angle to MDA, followed at 3 percent, so you have a lot of kinetic energy to burn off at landing, put it in reverse the instant the autospoilers deploy on the ground, and Autobrakes 4 all the way. The National captain made it look easy. The Nepalese folks at the airport treated everyone like kings, and it was sweet to see the little gifts they gave the crew (and Sam!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTSVglZH8bI Worth a few minutes.

Who is the GSO-ONT-GSO flight numbered 710/711 being run for? Since June of 2020, I've seen four different airlines (three, if you count Aloha and Northern Air Cargo as one) operating it.

Yes they have been gone a fair while now. N570B is nearing the end of it's fifth month at HHN, having arrived on 06/30 (listed as being leased to ATG), and N27063 has been with the hard working folks at GMF since 09/10, so she will probably miss peak altogether. Both are registered to Sky One FZE.

It got me thinking of ATG's activity in Romania, with what was HS-TGH, then ER-BBE now YR-FSA for Cargo-ROM. She doesn't appear to be flying, so I hope it's not another short lived JV for the earnest yet ragtag bunch at Aerotranscargo, like their proposed Dutch (or was it Belgian?) venture which folded before it began.

Another interesting one is Mesk Air's 9H-MSK, which is up & running, and after a couple of trips to tripoli and SHJ, has done a round trip to HKG and back to MST.

Ha, thank you. I have no connection any of them but I like seeing the little guys do well, and that includes WGN. I have seen the Sam Chui clips, goofy but good, in his own unique way.. :)

Huge thanks! Quite the comprehensive list. I would imagine that quite a few of the CRJ's, DC-9s and MD80s are being used for parts. Especially on the MD front, many of those have been out in ROW for quite some time, and Frontera acquired them a long time back, which is why I'm guessing they're destined for parts. Same probably goes for a lot of the CRJ-200s, similar situation except that they're mostly DL Connection ones out at IGM. The DC-9 situation is a bit puzzling, as they've bought up a few and brought them down to SLW. Hope to see these 737s in the air soon. A few were purchased that had already been converted (including XA-ADQ and XA-TIF), and they've now finished up with N102FF's conversion. So, I would guess that those are the first three to take to the skies in Aeronaves colors

N572UP, AOG since October 27th at ICN seems to be on her wheels again, however she will need some TLC, seen the hydraulic fluid leak repair marks at the tail.(from the rudder actuators)
Hopefully she will join the peak soon !

The MD-11 Fleet Personnel had better be looked at pretty hard, because this could completely be all on them. It could also be, MD-11s are hard to bring back and find parts for, no matter if you are FEDEX or WGN!!! Truly hope Purple calls upon the 777-XF. The ability in a few years to have a massive homogenous 767F fleet, and one pilot base for 50 777Fs and plug & play 777XFs really looks good.

On the Fedex side, I don't know if that's completely fair...In January 2020, the plan was the MD-10 sundown, the A300 starting to sundown with the 310s parked, and the MD-11 on a glidepath to retirement.

Now, my friends are saying that new hires are being dumped into the A300 and MD11 fleets as fast as the LCAs can train them, while the 757/767/777 continue to face the double demands of both growth and attrition. The MD-10 will be sustained with a minimum fleet to December 2022 (with the knock-on requirements of sustaining sims/manuals/maintenance/tracking/etc.) The MD-11 is in the fleet plan basically indefinitely now (2030s.) Oh, and a that's a turn-around, and aircraft were purchased/woken up from the desert, so the fleet size, expected to dwindle, has increased with a concurrent demand signal for more bodies.

Honestly, I think Fedex is going to a five fleet type airline for a long time, or even more as a 757 replacement needs a hard look. As far as bases, I don't think an ONT, DXB, KIX or CRK would be surprising. To support a NB/767/777 fleet plan, there would have to be significant system form change, with lots more concrete poured nearly everywhere and diversification away from MEM as the center of the universe.

Why can't they just keep the MD-10-30s for a lot longer?

Why would they? The DC/MD10 is dead... What is there is no gain from keeping it in fleet, or is there? Keep them A300s way younger and somehow modern..

Seems like Brown is beginning to add capacity already to regular domestic runs. 5X1356 (SDF-BHM) and 5X712 (SDF-HSV-SHV) we’re upgauged from a 767 and 757 to an MD-11 and an A300, respectively, for tonight

As long as they can be supported parts wise, I think Fedex will fly both the A300 (because it's the only widebody capable of airports like BUR and SNA, thus the only aircraft capable of backfilling any other aircraft in the fleet and there are like 60+ of them) and the MD-10 (because it's an economical domestic load hauler that other than parts and I believe simulators, is integrated nearly wholly into the 55 ship MD-11 fleet.)

In the past the FAA hasn't liked trickle to zero fleet sundown plans. It is believed to be stressful to have a small handful of non- standard aircraft. If there are 10 or so 10-30s flying, that's 20% of the domestic -11/-10 fleet.

I just have a hard time believing parts aren't a considerable issue for the MD-10. Also interesting to note is the lack of HUD/enhanced vision on the -300 and no stated plan to install either or a new flight deck on the -300.

AFAIK, ADQ and TIF are already up in the air flying revenue. Sure, ASAP, they'll add more 737s. I bet too many others are or will be used for parts but they're putting in the air most of what they've bought. Maybe at the end they just figure out that having MD's in the long run wouldn't be easy to keep them in the air and inmediatly went for 737s. Lets see what's TSM's next adventure type to fly!

Has anyone heard anything on the air Wisconsin CRJ freighter ops? As well as the elite airways CRJ freighter ops? Also, doesn't DHL rotate some of their new fleet into MLB For upgrades?

Huge thanks! Quite the comprehensive list. I would imagine that quite a few of the CRJ's, DC-9s and MD80s are being used for parts.

They've just told me, these are the MD82s bought for parts:

49162 - 1110 MD-82 N214AA
49173 - 1114 MD-82 N223AA
49287 - 1176 MD-82 N255AA
49294 - 1213 MD-82 N278AA
49267 - 1239 MD-82 N953U

So, sooner or later, we might be surprised and see all of the above converted and making it a strong fleet of 28 active MD80s.

Interestingly the repair marks seem to be not related to that incident. Pictures show her flying around like that since at least the beginning of September this year.

Air Wisconsin hasn't taken possession of the airplane yet. The Elite airplane went back to the barn 10 days ago. DHL doesn't operate airplanes, the individual operator decides where its aircraft get serviced.

Only full freighters have enough earning power to justify the reactivation costs from long-term storage.

I think your post is excellent but just this bit confuses me, didn't we see a least one or two 744-BCFs reactivated from storage to help with the post-covid freighter boom? I agree it can't be done to unconverted 744s especially heavily cannibalized ones, but if an already converted 744BCF has not been cannibalized much, wouldn't it find a use in the current environment?

A 744BCF or 744BDSF is also a full freighter, like a factory built 744F. All have approx the same payload/range.
All full P-F converted 744's or factory built 744F's are at the moment potential reactivation candidates.
Long-term stored all pax 744 are definite not fit for reactivation, the reactivation costs cannot be earned back.
The 744 combi's, used as a "half " freighter with some light cargo carried at the fwd maindeck, are a temporally solution, only profitable in the current high yield cargo environment.

If the 777x is delayed and LH needs some 747’s that would be a good fit. Aren’t the 747-400 for LH have high flight hours.

I noticed while looking through the customer list on ALC that National had bought something from them, anyone knows what plane it is? If no one knows I might have a new theory of where those 7 A350F's are headed :stirthepot:

Just for clarificatoin: N569AZ, the Amazon-owned 763BDSF that was converted in Mexico, was delivered from MEX fully-painted in Prime Air livery. There's a picture out there of it on a test flight at MEX.

Looks like FX is throwing another A300 into the mic for peak. N733FD is ferrying in to MEM from ANC seemingly fresh from a heavy check.

Enormous. Excellent point.

Interesting, too, that Boeing is adding KF, which AEI is already using for their 738 conversion. Well, I say AEI is "using" them, but I'm not sure they've been getting exactly a high volume yet. Most AEI 738 work seems to be being done at Commercial Jet still. KF is a good shop, and they deserve the opportunity to make some $$ from this touch work, regardless of what vendor orders it.

I think KF is a lot bigger then a lot of people realise, they have 1000 people on the payroll. Trivia fact they hold the type certificate for Convair aircraft.
