Well, at least we now know that that piece of trim above the window latch is made of a foam core and not a hard plastic.

What water sources would be available on the plane for a cat? A cat could survive two weeks without food assuming low activity level, but it would almost certainly die of dehydration before that. A week is a pretty good upper limit for survival - potentially even less depending on ambient heat and humidity.

If the cat is alive, there must either have been a readily available source of water for it or the door was left open so to speak and it had not been there for two weeks.

Well, if this were here in Canada, the cat would be in trouble for not having provided proof of a negative Covid-19 test before boarding...sorry, I just had to lol. Now that he/she is out of the airplane, there's the required three day hotel stay while awaiting another negative test, hopefully the feline has $2000 CAD.

Personally, I'm not sure nine lives would be enough to get me through a three day quarantine in a hotel room.

I'd think about the mechanic who has to find every possible place that cat could have contaminated. And it obviously liked spending time in the cockpit.

I didn't even think about the urine. Any cat owner knows that cat urine is a very toxic smell. Might as well scrap the plane. LOL

As a mechanic, I've been lucky enough never to have to deal with any kind of urine. I have dealt with bird strikes though, that stinks as well, especially a seagull, or any bird that eats fish.

Israel is full of feral cats. I lived there for a few years and saved one as a kitten from the street in Haifa and she lived to the ripe old age of 17. Named her Sybil because she was completely nuts! :spin:

Wanted: kind home for enormous savage rodent. Answers to the name of Sybil.

In seriousness though, it seems like the cat has been released according to the reply on this tweet: https://twitter.com/aeronewsglobal/stat ... 24225?s=10

You’re not wrong about the cats in Haifa! When I was there last year (hard to believe I travelled internationally to Israel in March of 2020!) there was even one sitting on the handrail of the steps at the Downtown Carmelit station, complete with food left out for it. Maybe someone left some biscuits and a bowl of water on the 737!

I presume he had got on the wrong flight as he was in fact going to Cat-mandhu, and I would imagine that after he was found the tech staff were in a right flap, in this case a cat flap, but I hope he is feline OK now.

This cat fared better than the one that I saw that made it into a Chiquita banana container from Costa Rica. The container and the cat made it through US and Canadian customs before the grocery store in Montreal found it, and promptly rejected the whole container of bananas.

Let me tell you a story I heard when I worked at Olympic at ATH: a ramp agent had to put two pets in hold n°1 (B737).Αs you know it is the only place where a captain can “give” oxygen for the animal(s) to breathe. The thing is, one was a dog, the other was a cat. The pets, naturally, did not get along very well. Upon arrival at the destination, an unsuspecting mechanic opened the front cargo door whereupon a furious cat who had managed to open its box leapt out startling him....

Hence why you should always keep your seat belt on and done up at all times. You never know when the plane might encounter a little CAT.
