SFO runways today?

Wed Mar 03, 2021 4:06 pm

Gang - I see winds in SF today will be upper teens from the southwest. Now, does that still allow planes to land on the 28s and depart from the 1s? Isn't that a pretty decent tail wind? At any other airport you'd think they'd use the 10s for departing and the 19s for landing. But I know SFO is quirky that way.

Looks like the most extreme will be 260 at 14 in the afternoon. I think they could just use the 28s for awhile since that's still a pretty healthy headwind. It's about a direct crosswind for the 1s, within the capabilities of most aircraft I believe.

Yes they'll likely be on the 1s for takeoff and the 28s for landing. Some aircraft as usual will require the 28s for takeoff due to weight/ wind.
