White planes with blue bellies at LAS?

Tue Mar 16, 2021 6:47 pm

Does anyone know what the white aircraft with blue bellies and blue angled striped tails are that are parked near the "Janet" stand at LAS? There's a 747, a couple of small jets and I think a 757 but it is obscured from my angle.

They own the Venetian, Palazzo, a bunch of stuff in Macao and the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore among others.

With Adelson selling out in Vegas, did the planes go with the deal? Will they move to Macao if not?

No, the aircraft were not part of the deal.

Will be interesting to see if they are moved to Asia shuttling high-rollers to Singapore or Macao.

LVS is keeping their HQ in Las Vegas, as it stands, even though they will no longer have any U.S. properties.

If I had to guess, sadly, the LVS Flight Department is probably on borrowed time. Sheldon Adelson loved his fleet of planes and was always an aviation entrepreneur. IIRC he actually owned a few L-1011 charter operations back in 80s/90s. There were rumors floating around that this fleet of eclectic aircraft would come to an end, once Sheldon passed away. While I hope this is not true, the selling off of all the LV operations really eliminates the company's need for long haul aircraft. He used the A345 and 74L to go back and forth to Israel and other long haul destinations along with the VIP work the aircraft performed. His passing will now drastically reduce this requirement.

The Adelson family still owned the company.

Yeah, he owned Five Star out of KBOS in mid-80s, leased some TWA L-1011s.
