I know there has been a lot of talk about Orlando or Fort Lauderdale being the potential for the HQ if they decide to move it. But what about Tampa or better yet, and dare I say it, Jacksonville?

Personally I’d love to see B6 HQ move to Orlando but there might be better options cost wise (Jacksonville) and the reality is this is more than likely B6 just trying to get a better deal in the NYC area.

First, i'd prefer they stay in NYC. Second why in the world would they move to some random FL city when they have big bases already in FLL and MCO?

I am sure if they decided to move they would let certain employe groups work remotely. Jacksonville is not just a random FL city.... Jacksonville is one of the top ten cities for folks relocating, cheap cost of living, cheap office space, growing talent pool, and cheaper taxes. Orlando and Fort Lauderdale are not as cheap in terms of cost of living as they were 5 or 10 years ago, cheaper than NYC area by far, but when looking at affordable places for employees and companies Jacksonville is a place to put high up on the list when considering a relocation to Florida.

As we have seen before in the industry the HQ does not always need to be where the biggest base. Many years ago when Spirit had their HQ in the Detroit area, which was their largest base at the time, they decided to move to the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area where they had relatively few flights until it got built into a large hub that it is today. Avelo Air has their HQ in Houston but their main base of operation in Burbank. Breeze has their HQ in the Salt Lake City area and that won’t even be one of their bases. A HQ is not always relevant to a base and does not need to be, would it be nice if the HQ is near a base....yes it would be.

With the recent DOJ probe, they are going to need Schumer again. This move to Florida is not happening.

That's why over the past year, they have add EWR/LGA/LAX/RDU to JAX. That area is clearly growing. I think you will likely see more routes to JAX added, but not a new office.

As much as I'd love for them to move to Jacksonville (given that I just moved to the area and have a decade of experience in the corporate offices for major airlines), I don't see them coming to JAX. As I had been looking for jobs over the past few months, one thing that stuck out to me was how B6 wanted to have people working in the office as much as possible, even as late as around Christmas last year.

If they want that type of culture, I'd think they would want a good sized operation to be out of their HQ location. While B6 has grown a good bit in JAX and I see myself using them quite a bit in the future (especially if they can cozy their FFP relationship with AA a bit more, since I'm making AA my primary carrier now, the JAX operation is nowhere near what it is in MCO or FLL (or even TPA for that matter).

That being said, there's some great deals in Jacksonville. I just signed a lease for an apartment yesterday that's on the St. John's River, with a river view from my unit and I've got a balcony, a three minute walk to the heart of the Riverside neighborhood - for about what I was paying for a place in Buckhead in Atlanta. Basically same amount of money, much nicer property. I could have stayed in the general area too and saved a good $350/month, but the value of the view and not having to get in my car after I get home from work is a big plus.
