Il-62MGr enroute from Yangon, Burma right now

Wed Mar 31, 2021 11:27 am

Dear aviation fans,

I just noticed Ilyushin Il-62MGr which took off from Yangon Mingeladon Airport and it seems it is on its approach to Chittagong Airport in Bangladesh. Any of the fellow aviation fans have any info who is the operator and what kind of operation it may be? Is it covid related(vaccines flight) or is it operaton related to the military coup in Myanmar where hundreds of protesters for democracy have been decimated by the army in past few weeks(evac flight for diplomats etc)?

It has been operating into LGG & MST lately, afaik with PPE etc. The airline operating actually has 2 Il-62MGr's the fleet. Not sure if both are active at the moment though.

Hi,

It's Rada Airways from Belarus. They operated 2x Maastricht Airport (in the Netherlands) - Yangoon flights in the past 2 weeks also.

In addition to the correct info other posters have already supplied:

These are freighters. They are not evacuation flights for diplomats.

It's highly unlikely an EU airport (Maastricht) will be loading fresh supplies for repression to the Burmese regime. Rada recently doubled their fleet with a new (to them) IL-62 in the past few months. They have been kept VERY busy shuttling Covid PPE supplies across Europe and Asia.
