If I am not mistaken, it was part of Cunard Cruise Line QE2 Cruise ship world tour package with Concorde back in 1985.

I wonder what route and stops it made; it’s not a good subsonic flyer and countries didn’t want it flying supersonic overhead.

I know the caption says approximately January 1985 but that cannot be. If you zoom in you will see a United 747SP with the larger United titles and that did not happen until around 1988/89.

Slightly off-topic, but I just want to say that this is one of the reasons I love this forum.

Great catch! I did not notice that. I believe Cunard ran the program up annually until Concordes' retirement in 2003. This must be after 1985 most definitely.

As a child , I remember watching an Air France Concorde over-fly Hong Kong Harbour. It was carrying Imelda Marcos on a shopping trip to Hong Kong.

1989/90 perhaps as the Flying Tigers B747 has no titles, so time of the FedEx takeover.

Yes! It was part of BAC/Sud Aviation marketing effort to sell Concorde to Philippines Airlines, so the demonstration flight includes bringing Mrs. Imelda Marcos to Hong Kong. She bought so much that there wasn't enough space for all her shopping. It flew sub-sonic to Hong Kong. She loved it so much she wanted to return again on subsequent day for more shopping. SCMP of Hong Kong ran a piece on history of Concorde visiting Hong Kong. https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-mag ... g-november (behind paywall)

I still remembered how noisy it was (compared with other planes) when it took off.
The sound was a lot louder then usual and I was located at the opposite of the harbour

They did the dual Concorde picture pose here too in Orlando when EPCOT opened in October 1982..they landed simultaneously on the parallel runways. It was quite the sight!
