American Airlines 940 Emergency Return to SCL - Santiago, Chile

Mon May 31, 2021 1:21 am

Anybody have any idea or information why / what reason, Or whats happening now to AA940, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (N818AL) that departed from SCL - Santiago, Chile just now around 8:25pm Local Time Enroute to Dallas, Texas - KDFW with an ETA of 5:22am Local Time, and what seems like only seconds after departure And only seemingly only climbing to no more than 11,400ft It than declared an Emergency followed by a westward turn out over the South Pacific circling several times (For what i can only imagine was to dump some fuel) and than Immediately started a decent and turned back to Santiago for an Emergency Landing ?

According to my research, it was a slat problem. Still had to make an overweight landing.

Or dump enough fuel to not be overweight for the landing.

Wow, although not a Severe Incident,, i just randomly happened to be watching the flight as it Declared Emergency during its climbout and went "off course" so i was very curious why,,, and i really appreciate you and everyone else looking into it, Thanks and i'm glad everything worked out safely for all of them right after takeoff.
