Very true. They do like to do different things though like last year we had the word search for the P2P routes, the video teaser for the Long haul routes, etc. Is there anything onboard that they haven’t brought back yet that they could be making a huge deal about?

Yes the cross word was what I was thinking of honesty I don’t think there’s really something that hasn’t come back that they would make such a big deal...it probably isn’t Hawaii but they don’t have to wait for the people in Hawaii to be awake WN had there big news happen at 3 in the morning Texas time

Slight change of colour of carpet in the lounges, with carpet being changed steadily across the network over the next 5 years as and when it needs to be replaced because of general wear/tear. Maybe also a change in brand of orange juice served in the lounges. Remember this really does reflect the perception of the brand and what it means to the customer

I think it could easily be more European routes.

The EU is planning on reopening soon for Americans and Americans have been buying up those tickets so far.

September, in my opinion, is the best time to visit Europe. Maybe some Fall/Winter leisure Europe adds?

In classic a.net fashion, this thread will be on hyperdrive. Tomorrow morning UA will announce something trivial -- e.g. they're enhancing First Class meal service by adding a third scoop of raisins to their cereals -- and a.net will go bonkers, complaining that UA promised some game changing announcement and let them down. Great marketing move on UA's part! Some may remember when some members would repeatedly fabricate a "big upcoming AirTran announcement," that would put a.net into hyperdrive each time. If they're modeling this after other social media influencers, the elimination of photos typically means a rebranding of some sort. Seeing how they just updated the livery back in 2019, I can't imagine its a full rebrand.

I think it’s a rebrand because the deleting all posts on social media. I mean I can’t think of why just a new route would mean that is necessary. But a rebrand is not needed. They’re in the middle of one

I have no guess regarding what it is. But I figure it's not something overly minor. Nor is it an announcement like canceling an order. They way they've primed this one, it has to at least be a route announcement I'd assume.

Doesn't mean it will be some huge or shocking announcement, but I doubt it an announcement that the grounded 777s are coming back. Or that United bought Biscoff.

I could see it ending up somewhere along the lines of the "return to new" messaging that Scott Kirby has talked about. I'm guessing it's an announcement of a lot more routes/capacity returning and/or new routes plus cabin service returning to pre-pandemic levels.

Anyway, if social media is the arena for a big announcement, don't expect much.

I do recall United doing something similar to this a while ago as well (or was it AA?). The US majors (extended beyond the US3) have a history of doing announcements like this.

Could going after Delta's stronghold in Africa be a potential announcement? From the USA to western Africa, Delta has historically been unchallenged, but the Boeing 787-8 seems like the perfect aircraft on which to challenge Delta. The question is: from IAD, which is already a base for the B788, but where there would need to be EWR connections, or from EWR, where some regional flights would have to be sacrificed to make room?

EWR-JNB starts tomorrow with one of their newest Dreamliners, N19986. This would effectively eliminate any need for a resurrected South African Airways to resume JNB-JFK.

Return To New is there new marketing and they haven’t really implied what was going to be new so I’m guessing this is the announcement

UA might possibly announce a few more nonstop routes out of SFO such as SFO-CLT/ELP/MEM/TUL and the return of SFO-CVG nonstop service.

UA adding additional nonstop routes out of the Midwest such as CVG-LAX, CMH-LAX, DSM-LAX/IAD, IND-LAX, MCI-LAX/HHH/PWM, MKE-LAX, OMA-IAD, STL-LAX/PWM, and ICT-LAX/IAD are also possibilities.

UA re-adding LAX-ABQ/DFW/ELP/MSY/OKC/PHL/PIT/PDX nonstop service and adding LAX-ATL/BNA nonstop service might also be possibilities.
