Chaos erupts onboard Azul flight

Sat Jun 12, 2021 8:13 pm

An Azul flight 4665 was boarding at Vitória airport for a flight to Congonhas when Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro decided to pay a surprise visit to the aircraft to greet the pax. The president’s presence onboard the aircraft caused chaos among the pax and shouting and he subsequently left the aircraft. Azul has refused to comment on the incident.

Irregardless of politics this is a worrisome trend that cabin incidents and tensions aboard aircraft appear to be rising exponentially.

Cabin incidents are on the rise…yes.

This incident? Completely avoidable and I wouldn’t attribute this to unruly passengers. Why on earth would he board a flight that he isn’t even taking thinking it wouldn’t cause a ruckus and then egg them on by saying his non-supporters should travel by donkey?

Is there any data that says this is the case? Are incidents really on the rise exponentially, or are they being reported more now that air travel is returning?

Then he deserves anything he gets, what a fool for saying something as juvenile as that. This is the face of a failed leader & the outcome of mismanaging a pandemic that claimed so many lives in Brazil & continues to do so. Brazil can afford vaccines, they are not helping their people as first world nations are.

I wouldn't call this a cabin incident; more like a PR stunt that Azul never should have allowed in the first place that backfired.

Yes it is a combination, they are both increasing and being reported more frequently as well according to reports.

Utterly unrelated to air rage. If he showed up in a shopping centre it’d be the same reaction
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

I wouldn't call chaos nor an episode of air rage but a PR stunt that went wrong. Azul shouldn't allow this happen in the first place.
He deserved being booed by the passengers and replying that his critics should be traveling by a donkey just show how childish he is when doesn't get things his way...

This is nothing to do with Air Rage or an airline issue.
This is a highly controversial President trying to go for a PR exercise and failing miserably.
Although it happened on an aircraft, this is more political than flight related.
For those that do not know, Bolsonaro is a highly divisive President who controversially does not believe in vaccination for COVID19 and - even less - on lockdown and social distancing measures.
Regardless of which side you are on, it is a very divise subject that would obviously flair up anywhere he goes...

In my opinion, the reaction of these pax is nothing less than their civic duty. This is the airline and airport authorities fault for allowing a PR stunt to take place airside.

I, for one, am relieved the USA doesn't have a monopoly on air rage incidents. But this seems more a publicity stunt than a genuine face-slapping incident at 30,000 feet. :-)
