PK-LSG of Lion appear to fly back to CGK on 25 November. It appeared this one is bound for DL fleet next. So VP-CIC must be ex PK-LBJ as stated by dalmit.

I was away for a few days but concur with dalmit's analysis.

Remaining aircraft and their projected Cayman registrations:
PK-LQS -> VP-CEF
PK-LSG -> VP-CEI
PK-LBM -> VP-CFB
9M-LNG -> VP-CF_ (could be I,J,L,M,N,Q)
PK-LBO -> VP-CFT

Updated: PK-LSG just returned back to CGK last night 30/11/2021 at around 7:37 PM WIB. As stated before, this aircraft should be ready to be ferried in couple of days or weeks to USA via HNL and GUM which this aircraft will be solded to DL next. There are 5 more B739 due for DL which they are stated by timf before.

VP-CFH today is making it's path to USA now and just landed in GUM. This is possibly an ex Batik Air aircraft to me and is ex PK-LBM.

I can see clearly their US registered aircraft in this IG picture. But still in JT livery. Hope it gets painted and configured soon.

This is most likely 9M-LNG (38729/4380), the one I had as VP-CF_. I did not list H as a possibility because I skipped a letter for PK-LJT which never was reported with a Cayman registration, but it's possible they had already ferried that aircraft before they started the intermediate registrations.

Does door two get changed to the type of door that Delta normally has plugged on their 737-900? The LionAir planes have porthole windows versus Deltas regular cabin windows.

Yes, it’s just a simple plug (very noticeable from outside of plane) that replaces the exit door. The regular size cabin window is part of the plug.

I’ve always wondered why they can’t make a MAX9 (since the 900ER is no longer sold) without the plug if the customer doesn’t want to or need to have an exit door there..

What is your support for that? IIRC Delta specifically said into 2023.

Usually, DL 738 they got from 2016. They modified it and take just less than a year to modified. Look at N377DE, it was brought by DL in July 2016 and enter in May 2017. Most of the B739 should enter around that time.

That was 4 aircraft, not 40+. Either way, don’t say they will definitely enter by a time if you don’t know, say you think and provide your basis.

And the interior of these B739 will be the same as existing B739 or it's going to be like the A220's?

DL has said that it will take through Summer 2023 to induct these aircraft.

The reality is there are capacity / throughput for TechOps/MRO work & mods, lead times and availability of seats/interior fittings, and other aspects, along with their planned deliveries of new aircraft in 2022 & 2023 that also require induction activities.

Realistically, I would anticipate them to enter the fleet at about a rate of 2-3 739s per month and an A359 every other month starting in mid-2022.

That's interesting. Has that plane ferried from Asia yet or is this the first one they've registered in the U.S. prior to ferrying?

This one was brought by Castlelake as VP-CFH before registered to DL. Now 155/159. Next 4 is: PK-LQS (still stored in BTH and should be ferried to CGK soon), PK-LSG (Currently in maintenance at CGK before joining DL), PK-LBO (Currently stored in CGK) and 9M-LNG (Currently stored in SZB).

VP-CFH should have been 9M-LNG (the eventual N945D_), so if it really got assigned to PK-LBM then they went out of sequence for the first time. I see now that since it was a Batik aircraft there's no way it ever could have been 9M-LNG.

Why all of these crazy registration suffixes for the used 739s? I searched the FAA registry and a good portion of DZ and DU registrations were not assigned. Is this to distinguish the used jets from the factory-built -932s?

PK-LQS has made air test over Batam on Sunday. Sounds like this one is going to DL next.

DL is the expert in getting used aircraft fit and running - same with the MD90/B717 used sub-fleet. Given LionAir poor reputation in maintenance and operations, I still ask myself, in what conditions the planes actually are... Anyone with more insight?!

Flightaware is listing VP-CFT going through Guam. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/VPCFT

If that's a 737-900ER it could line up between VP-CFD 38690 and VP-CFU 38732

So, 38729 or 38731 (N945xx or N947xx)

Or VP-CFT could be something else entirely.

PK-LBO (38731/4463) is the logical aircraft.

Unless we see a significant induction delay, or DL takes a write-down, I don't think anything other than anecdotal info will come out. Look at the variety of carriers from whom they got MD-90s, either to be inducted to the fleet or for parts.

Update: PK-LQS is not going to DL. Maybe PK-LQT instead? Or PK-LJF which is leased from Aircastle, likely now leased from Castlelake. Or any other replacement?

I was away for a few days but concur with dalmit's analysis.

Remaining aircraft and their projected Cayman registrations:
PK-LQS -> VP-CEF
PK-LSG -> VP-CEI
PK-LBM -> VP-CFB
9M-LNG -> VP-CF_ (could be I,J,L,M,N,Q)
PK-LBO -> VP-CFT

PK-LQS has returned to service already. The replacement to PK-LQS is PK-LQT to me. Your suggestion?

The next B739: VP-CEI (ex PK-LSG as stated by timf or 9M-LNG) has been ferried today from CGK-SZB-GUM-HNL-SBD. So they have 157/159 in fleet. 2 more to go left. (PK-LSG if not 9M-LNG) and PK-LJF? will be next one to go for DL.

I'm struggling to find another aircraft leased from Castlelake. All the other candidates (not to mention PK-LQS itself) indicate a lessor other than Castlelake. There is one, PK-LJZ, which does not list a lessor but also does not fit the sequence. PK-LQT is showing a different lessor as well.

If not LJZ, the nearest aircraft I found is PK-LJF which like PK-LHW was leased from Aircastle and can be solded to Castlelake afterward.

Good catch. PK-LJF's leasing history is very similar to PK-LWH. I'll go with that for now.

Just 2 more B739. The next one is set to be 9M-LNG and PK-LJF (likely) at the moment I add. VP-CEI is likely PK-LSG as you said before now position to US via GUM/HNL.

I notice none of these aircraft appear to have the split wingtips but I believe all the new DL ones do, are these all older than Deltas legacy planes or was that an extra cost option? I assume it’s not worth the expense to retrofit this?

Is Delta finished with the ore owned aircraft purchases or could we see more A350s etc in the future?

I’d imagine they are always looking for opportunistic aircraft buy opportunities. Their fleet still has a lot of older aircraft and with COVID they retired a good chunk. I’d bet they don’t have plans but are probably in constant discussions if the right opportunity arises. Like UA they didn’t go all new with their fleet yet, but unlike UA their outstanding orders aren’t in the multiple hundreds but are in a similarly stable position given domestic demand unlike many airlines globally that are still suffering.

Also VP-CFQ is the last B739 of OD and was formerly 9M-LNG now flying from SZB-GUM-HNL-SBD.

If that's a 737-900ER it could line up between VP-CFD 38690 and VP-CFU 38732

So, 38729 or 38731 (N945xx or N947xx)

Or VP-CFT could be something else entirely.

PK-LBO (38731/4463) is the logical aircraft.

Correct. Now stored in SBD. As of Dec 21/2021, 158/159 in DL fleet. One more to go.
